So...some of my friends are quitting LoL

First of all, I don't mean to thrust any of my opinions on anyone, or state this story as a fact. It's just a personal observance, and I wanted to hear some of your takes.

Ever since Riot implemented the changes that changed this game into an early/mid game meta, things were initially great for my friends in China and Canada who play on PCs at internet cafés. Internet cafés in Canada especially aren't cheap; the one I frequent is $15 per hour, and the environment isn't even that great. They also shut off your access pretty quickly after your hour has elapsed, so you either gotta pay upfront for the entire duration of your stay, or risk getting booted from your computer in the middle of a ranked game.

The shorter games meant that we could generally get in four games in two hours if we're lucky, while previously it would've been a maximum of three. This is pretty good in the long run, because you get to climb more for your money on these almost lag-free computers. Everyone was delighted at first. Not only do we get more games in, but we also get flashier champions that look really cool and make great plays.

However, recently, many of my internet café frequenting friends have started quitting League, which is odd, since the new meta does favour their lifestyle. When I asked why, or tried to persuade them to hop in a norms with me, here are one of the reasons as to why they refused;

  1. The game is no longer fun. Every game, especially in higher ranks, has just been farming or playing safe, because you get blown up in less than a second if you overstep just a tiny bit. Damage is too high, every game feels repetitive.

  2. Matchmaking. I can't verify these claims, because I've never been diamond, but apparently it's been a dice roll; some of my high diamond friends get queued with even challenger players, or just players who were formerly gold last season and play like it. I have noticed, however, that I've sometimes gotten bronze/level 30 players in my ranked games (G2) who were definitely not smurfing.

  3. Gatekeeping. Once again, I cannot verify, but apparently some petty high-elo Chinese players will int/troll your games on their smurfs if they hate you, just to keep you out of a certain rank.

  4. Comebacks are very difficult. Games are decided pretty much ten minutes in. If you do secure Baron/Elder by some miracle, you're just stuck trying to defend, instead of being able to do something with it.

  5. Mobility is cancerous to play against, and outplays no longer feel rewarding, because there's less skill involved and more button (ability) spamming.

  6. League is simply losing its appeal. Many of my cousins have been avid fans, but the game is growing old. After playing a game for many years, it's difficult to not feel as if though it were growing stale, especially since they're going to college and experiencing new trends. We came to an agreement that League was past its peak, and there's simply very little that Riot can do for it. Teamfight Tactics was fun for a bit, but it got pretty boring quickly when people keep spamming the same team comps over and over with little variance other than item and champions RNG.

  7. Queue times are longer. Once again, I cannot verify, but apparently TT and solo queue times are longer than they've ever been.

I can verify 7. I play briefly between periods of like 3-6 months, and every time I come back, the queue times are noticeably longer than the last time. They seem to add a good 10-20 seconds every time, which obviously builds up over the course of four or five years. Back in season 3, you could get a normals game in about 30 seconds. Now it takes two minutes on average, assuming you don't get any dodges.
