Why again are Doran's items stackable?

Just wondering. More and more I see meta adc's stack 2 or even 3 doran's blades to win lane because of the stats it gives, same in midlane with doran's ring and on champs like Chogath Galio Illaoi i sometimes even see half the itemslots full with Doran's shields.

I don't have any issues with it, but almost everything in lol is unique for the precise prevention of it being stackable, which begs the questions why the starter items are an exception.

Well, that's unique about Dorans items - they are stackable while others are not. Thats' good

Rod of ages is stackable too, the stat growth isn't unique. you can legit go item 3040 item 3089 and 3x item 3027 and you have well over 1200 ap as well as roughly 4k hp. it's obnoxious.

but unlike RoA, starter items are cheap as all fuck so stacking them makes things too damn due to how fast you can do it, making comeback-snowballing your earlygame easy.

Its supposed to make comback easy, thats the entire point of the strategy of buying multiple dorans

Base stats and early game snowballing combine to make it viable. Keep in mind that even if an item does not change, other conditions changing can make it more or less viable.

They have tradeoffs and good use cases. There's nothing about stacking them that causes anything unpleasant. ....unlike certain items.

For a lot of the others, it wouldn't cause problems and it seems like Riot is just making it easy on themselves by just preventing it instead of balancing or allowing the possibility.

I think they're balanced around the fact that they can't build into anything else and that if you actually want stronger items you have to sell them later which means you lose some gold.

Personally, I don't see a problem with Doran's stacking.
