So my account has like gold MMR. I didn't play in S4 so my account has been hit by 2 soft resets since it was platinum in season 3. After placements I got placed in Silver 2 and I get really good LP gains, so I know my MMR is at least gold.

Well why didn't I just get placed in gold then? It seems like it's set up so I have to play a bunch of games to actually reach the rank that matches my MMR. Then after that begins the actual test of skill where I attempt to increase my MMR.

I dunno, are players fooled by this and think it's fun?

Well its not like you're here just to be gold and not play games. Although the placement is a little odd I don't really see how it's a big deal, i mean if you play more than like 20 games you'll be there.

I didn't play for a whole season, and there have been two soft MMR resets since I was plat... so not surprised. op.gg says I'm around 1500 mmr now.

to answer your question: people realize LP isn't true rating and the system wasn't implemented by player vote.
