# of Game Modes: LoL vs Smite

It blows my mind at how few actual game modes League has. I have recently started playing some Smite on the PS4, and its made me very disappointed in how few game modes League has to offer compared to Smite.

Smite maintains 7 permanent game modes, a rotational game mode that changes every day, and 3 ranked game modes. On top of this it maintains all of these on 3 different systems: PC, PS4, and XBox. And none of them are dual compatible, so in total they are maintaining 21 permanent game modes, 3 daily rotationals, and 9 ranked modes.

League maintains only 3, a rotational on weekends, and 2 ranked modes

That is just sad in comparison.....extremely sad, even just compared to the PC only its sad.

So why doesn't League have more permanent game modes?

Is it because they lack the money? No, they make much more than smite does.

Is it to keep Que times down? No, even on the PS4 I never have a Que time longer than 2 mins, and most are 30s or less.

Don't have the personnel to maintain them? If not they have the money to get the personnel, so this is a poor excuse.

I seriously can no think of any reason at why League has so few Permanent game modes, and why the rotational is only on weekends.

Any thoughts?

Edit: Sadly with the removal of Crystal Scare, League is reducing the game play options not increasing them.

Businesses are about $. Not spending money to not make more $.

Spending money (investing it) is the only way businesses make more money or to even make it in the first place.

Smite is a businesses, they make money.

I know that spending is how you make, but you have to spend it in the right spot. You really think creating more permanent game modes will INCREASE their profit?

More game modes = more attraction to the game = more players = more pockets = more money.

Yes, Yes i do.

Champions and their skins don't attract more people to play the game, the game and the modes of play do.

I just don't believe that more game modes would attract more players to the game. Sure, current players might play them, but their pockets are already there.

I don't believe that a specific game mode will bring in new players that otherwise would not be playing the game (enough to offset the costs to do so and create a significant profit that is worth the time and effort).

The thing is: How many of those game-modes would get played? Twisted treeline and ARAM are barely a spec compared to people who play on summoners rift and people who dont play LoL aren't going to start just because of a new game-mode.

If you read what I said, they all get played and none of them have large Que times. in Smite at most you will wait 2 mins, most the time its 30-45 seconds. and this is on the PS4 which has a much smaller player base than the PC.

So obviously all of them would get played.

Compare this for me.

2 identical games.

League of Legends & Legends of League. Completely identical.

EXCEPT: Legends of League has a larger variety of game modes. Which one would you rather get into and play? The one with only 3 game modes, or the one with 7 game modes.

Now I know that Smite and League are not completely Identical, but they are the same game category MOBA (Massive Online Battle Arena) and having more modes of play is much more attractive than having fewer.

And its not like this will take a TON of resources to do. Shoot they already have a ton of game modes made they just wont commit to letting them being permanent.
