"DQ has lowered toxicity" - RIOT

Romans VI XXIII··132 votes·4,431 views

Ummm no?

There is just less reports of toxicity due to premades not reporting each other. Simple logic.

As the only way RIOT gathers toxicity levels is all based on reports. Thus less reports = less toxicity. But thats not taking into account that you don't report people you are playing with. (only in VERY rare occasions). And since a large majority (if not ALL) of games have premades, then that means a higher potential to have few reports even if there should be reports.

So no RIOT stop feeding us this BS that DQ has lowered toxicity cause it has not.

I'm pretty sure Riot said in the exact same video, that even more players are playing ranked. And I'm pretty sure they wouldn't lie about that.

Dextix LT27 votes

Riot not lying about something? When has that happened?

DeathBot6669 votes

When have they lied? People complain about Riot lying all the time, but never provide any proof of it. Just because you have an experience outside of what Riot says it is, doesn't mean that its the norm.

Dextix LT10 votes

Lets count, shall we?

First of all, still waiting for tribunal. It was said that it will be taken down, upgraded and then brought back. Still waiting.

Then the conversion from the old forums to the boards. We were promised many things. Didnt get many of them, especially at release.

Soloq coming back. That must be their greatest lie of all.

Then the lies to cover up the failures of Dynamicq.

The shadyness of implementing 2 systems (New champ select and dynamic) at once thus confusing people.

The shadyness of their "polls" which were ffilled with unrelated or loaded questions.

To be fair, before this and the last season, the lying happened rarely. Now it is almost constant.

when did riot lie in season 5 i must have not been paying attation cause it was the season i had the most fun in

Leetri3 votes

There's a difference between lying and changing plans. If I promise that I will come over to your place tomorrow but then it turns out that I can't because my car broke down, I wasn't lying when I made the promise. Things happen, plans have to be changed. For all we know (unless you have some Riot insider info) they could very well have intended to bring it back, but as things developed they realized they couldn't. This is exactly why 99% of the companies never tell the community anything at all. Not defending Riot, but I'm tired of everyone spouting "they lied they lied" as if they actually knew everything that happens in the office.

Dextix LT2 votes

Please, DO NOT BULLSHIT ME! I get enough bullshit from PR thank you.

This is not an individual. This is a COMPANY. You plan in ADVANCE. And you have fallback plans in case your first ones don't work! They know what is going on in their own company. And if they make a statement it is official!

What prevented them from bringing soloq? Well? I am waiting for reasons. IF they indeed had to change plans, let them give us the reason for why. But if they say something then don't do it and explain shit, they are lying.

I am currently working in a candy distribution company. Guess what, we plan everything at least 2 months in advance. And if something changes we tell our management that and go try to fix it. We do not tell them to fck off and tell them "It just happened, deal with it".

They never planned to bring i back in the first place, because there are simply no goddamn reasons that could have stopped them. And their shady behavior considering this system further proves that. They are trying to push it no matter what.

DeathBurst3 votes

I had to deal with "companies that plan in advance", and as a result, are completely opaque with their customer, and are totally happy with that situation, and absolutely do not intend to communicate more with their customers, unless things are 100% certain and on the verge of being released, and too late to get any meaningful feedback.

And what I get out of it is: Riot's way of doing things is 10 times better. I'll take the transparency and reactivity above the certainty without a hint of hesitation.

Leetri1 votes

Do you plan for your [whatever you use to distribute with] to break down 2 months in advance too? Maybe one morning the computers don't work or there's a blackout and your progress is delayed by hours or even days. Do your customers start calling you liars and curse at you if that happens? Sometimes shit happens you can't plan around, doesn't matter if you're a company or individual. Even NASA can't predict everything when they send humans into space, a matter of actual life and death.

Real talk here, what company would say "we definitely plan on doing this" if they never intended on doing it in the first place? That only has bad outcomes and will ultimately cost them money. If Riot never intended on bringing back Solo Queue they never would've said they were, so it's obvious they changed their mind.

As for reasons, Riot have already said why. More people are playing ranked, people like to play with their friends more than solo and toxicity is down. Now, whether or not you want to believe in their numbers is entirely your choice, but don't act like they haven't given any reasons why.

Dextix LT1 votes

Yes, i actually do, we all do, because we have a plan B if that happens. Then we contact our customers and tell them the problem and apologise.

Now then, what happened in Riot? Did they all get lobotomized or mind controlled for those days they told soloq will be back? I still have not heard the reason for WHY they are not bringing it back when they promised it.

And i dont know about the "We definitely plan on doing this part" but the answer is Riot. They never intended to bring soloq because they always found excuses for it. It should have been after a week. Yet it wasnt. And there was not enough data on dynamicq at that time. Strangely it got "delayed".

More people are playing ranked, yes, because some queues were removed and its easier to get boosted and boost in this system. People like to play with their friends, ok, what about those who like to play solo? Screw us right? And toxicity is down. BULLSHIT. Maybe the rates are down, but since now premades are ganging up on people the toxicity is more severe.

They have given bullshit reasons. It should have been up fast, when they didnt have the data in the first place. It was not up. This leads me to believe that they never planned it in the first place, because their current excuses did not apply at that time.

You forgot Magma Chamber and Replay System.

Dextix LT1 votes

Have not been around that time, so i have no knowledge if they officialy announced that they will do those.

Vistha Kai1 votes

Replay System was meant to be released like 4 years ago and has been postponed on every occassion.

Magma Chamber, in a changed form, but still, was actually used in LCS durning one of those "Team Fire vs Team Ice" events like 2 years ago.

Funny shit about 1v1/2v2 Magma Chamber was the fact, Riot made this map in 30 hours and after the event they said, it's too unoptimized and was scrapped.

Do you feel it? They made a prototype of a gamemode in 30 hours (it was back to back, 30 hours non-stop, google "Riot Thunderdome") and said it won't be shipped live, because it isn't optimized. Holy shit, how idiotic of an excuse is that?!

If toxicity is so low, why do I always end up muting my team for squabbling like little girls over stupid crap...they fight over crap like a KS or " supp why you no take the death" when the ADC over extends...and I'm sitting here like....mute then the rest of the game is enjoyable :)

Leetri1 votes

If they're squabbling over things like that they're most likely solo players, or at the very least premades who don't really know each other. As long as there are other players in the game there WILL be some assholes.

Ozag the Mighty1 votes

I'm a solo player and I don't get salty or start flaming people...know why?...cause it's a team game...bash in your team, lose the game.

Leetri1 votes

I wish more people realized that. Flaming and shouting NEVER makes your team play better, it can only make it worse.

Wouldn't this mean that there is less toxicity? Having larger premades would mean less random people flaming each other, assuming you queue with friends

NipSlipOnMyTip2 votes

If its 2 5 man ques facing eachother sure that is true. But most of the time its a 3-4 man que flaming their soloQ teammates and the soloQ player can't do anything cause its 3-4 peoples stories compared to 1-2 peoples stories. Go into a que on lets say a smurf where there are 3-4 people premade and when one of the premade players make a mistake just say "What happened" I assure you you will get 3-4 people on your ass flaming you about how awful you are and how you should probably kill yourself.

Nameless Voice7 votes

What does "3-4 peoples' stories" have to do with anything?

There shouldn't be "stories" or arguments. The solo player mutes the toxic player(s) and reports after the game. That's it.

Multiple reports do not have more weight than a single report.

arrowhead21k3 votes

It's so obvious that toxicity has gone down and why that I don't even know why you say it's untrue. You said it your self "There is just less reports of toxicity due to premades not reporting each other. Simple logic." If it's so simple how can you not understand it.

Romans VI XXIII3 votes

Its so simple you cant even understand it.....

If for example some one does something that should be reported mk?

IF its in SoloQ, then that person theoretically can/should get 9 reports.

IF its in DynamQ, and that person is part of a group, then that 9 reports becomes 8, or 7, or 6, or only 5.

See? simple logic.

If your in a group you receive LESS reports than if you are solo.

RoodToob5 votes

well, i can explain to you this :

Seeing as all premades are apparently toxic (according to boards) this would mean that there are more reports or same amount due to "bullying" and thats the only reason some people get banned. Heres the thing : Premade reports count as one report, thus even if 4 people in a premade reported, it only counted as one. Also, 9, 8, 7 ore however many reports don't matter. 1 Report per game is enough to trigger a flag to the Riot system. The system then waits for a few games with reports before acting based on Logs. Toxicity is based on bans most likely, and number of reports per game do nothing to influence that, as long as there is one.

Side note asking for reports is in itself reportable, could be considered bullying

In the old ladder, there was still Duo queue, which would have the same problems as premades do now.

IF they are in premades, they may not type in chat as much as they probably have voice comms, thus less toxicity.

It's very simple math sir. In a game when one person is being very toxic he can get reported a total of 9 times (max). However in a three man premade, one of these guys being toxic would only at most get reported a total of 7 times.

10-3 = 7

These reports get less and less with larger premades.

LichKing2341 votes

and thats if the enemy decides to also report so lets knock the number down abit

Pyrokineticmage1 votes

{quoted}

and thats if the enemy decides to also report so lets knock the number down abit

That still doesn't change what I said. There will still be less reports giving a false sense of "less toxicity"

arrowhead21k1 votes

That's because you aren't toxic to the ones that are in your premade. That means that in a three man premade, you are guaranteed that any one in that premade will not be toxic to at least 2 people. If you did something that's a reportable offence to someone in your premade than I doubt that premade will last longer than one game.

Obungo 1 votes

Never seen toxicity in DQ without some type of causation.

Don't piss off the premades, and they won't be toxic. You dumbasses act like all premades are toxic and DQ is shit when reality its the solo players that start to flame and trigger the premades. Do everyone a favor, use the mute bottun and stop bitching.

Leon Etoile7 votes

Actually, according to rito we shouldn't need to use mute button and it's even one of those tips when loading into games.

That used to happen ALL THE TIME though. The difference is that now you actually have to choose to queue as support and then troll your team, rather than just "you're last pick so you have to support", last pick locks in yi anyway because he DGAF.

Whether the other teammates will then react to the troll pick by intentional feeding is pretty much the same coinflip it always was.
