I'm sad you think URF is too risky to bring back in the future, but...

At least we get to play it one last time. It could be worse. Frankly i think if players quit after "burning out" on URF, chances are those players were already burnt out to begin with and just got some fun out of the game one last time. But i can understand wanting to keep your lingering fringe players rather than double down on your core addicts. Numbers mean more than loyalty when it's about making a profit, after all.

URF has been one of my primary motivations to keep playing throughout all these years. I hope you change your mind and consider it a recurring game mode - perhaps once a year, at the very least. It provides the best aspects of league of legends all condensed into a quarter of the original match lengths. And it lets me and my friends enjoy the game together despite having an enormous gap in ranks between us.

Frankly, announcing that URF will definitely never return might lose you more players than keeping it a rare recurring event ever would.

Hi Patrick. They have announced URF is coming out for 10 days sometime this month (I can't remember when, but they have said the exact dates)

Yes, this is a response to the related ask riot. https://nexus.leagueoflegends.com/en-us/2019/10/dev-lets-talk-about-urf/

The way they phrase it points to this being the last time we EVER get to see URF.

Classic URF with full champion select (bans included) will be available from 28th October until 8th November.

people get mad at them prioritizing profit over "dedicated players" but in the end its a business. These "fringes" bring in much more money and allow them to pay artists, coders, and shoutcasters.

Them being focused on their profit line allows for hundreds of people to chase their passion of making games or being a shoutcaster.

Sure it does. So why, then, are they saying they'll discontinue URF for good "because players leave in droves after it"? It's like they don't even for a second consider that those players have already left in the first place, and they CAME BACK to play URF.

One thing to consider is that Riot have labelled this return of classic URF as an "experiment", which (I think) says a lot about their intentions. Primarily, my thoughts are that they'll be carefully reviewing this instance of URF, and trying to figure out if all the changes that they've applied to ARURF over the years could make it actually feasible to bring back Classic URF more in the future, without having a negative impact on champion diversity and player base (which are the main issues that come with Classic URF).

Depending on how things go, this has the potential to platform into more instances of classic URF appearing in the future, but Riot wants to make it clear that they don't think that will happen.
