Why is Ziggs so hard to carry with?

I thought it was just me being bad but looking at champion.gg, Ziggs has a pretty poor winrate even over a large number of games. It's barely above 50% and his late game winrate is one of the worst at 46.5%. I think a lot of this is his unreliability and how easy he is to outplay. His ult. takes a long time to land and shows the center quite clearly. His Qs are also quite predictable and have a very small radius. They also don't work like Ahri or Xerath Qs in a line. Instead, they'd just hit the frontline and stop there rather than going through everyone.

So, my conclusion is that his skills either need to hit harder or be more reliabe for him to be a good pick. One way to fix the latter is to have a lot of CC in the comp he's picked (maybe an Amumu, Naut etc.). I've looked on many sites trying to find a Challenger or Masters Ziggs main with a 60%+ winrate over 100+ games in any of the big regions and have failed. He isn't a generalist pick like I first thought and is probably still a bit lackluster compared to Viktor Ahri, Malz etc.

Am I wrong and if so, who can I look to emulate? I enjoy playing Ziggs but my results are bad.

Just my few cents. He has a very strong early game and spikes also quite early with the first completed item and against squishies. But as soon as people hit a few tank items you just can't beat them in any stage of the game. They will dive you 100% und you can't do nothing against it. If you pick Ziggs you either finish the game super early or you have other damage dealers and just waveclear with him.

I actually had to rethink the way I play Ziggs. I used to be a lane bully, but with how unreliable his kit is for damage, I took it off the table. I said to myself, "What can he do reliably?" The answer is: push so hard from far away. You don't even try to trade with your opponents unless they are stupid enough to walk into your Q's guaranteed landing range. Else, just push the wave to their tower, ward one side of the lane so you can see incoming ganks, and hit the tower hard. Keep doing this, chances are the jungler will try to gank you, but you can be prepared for it. Push really hard, their mid might try to roam or try to catch them when they back by taking tower with your new W execute on towers. Then roam, come back to mid when enemy laner tries to push. The idea is you shouldn't really go for trading because you will lose every single time. You push, HARD, then roam. Play like you would Aurelion Sol. You can also use your early ultimates to clear waves and push, but you should also try to hold it for those clutch ranged kills.

Word of the game: farm, push, take towers with team. You are more powerful when grouped up than solo. Actively avoid engagements with your laner unless they overextend trying to kill you (when your Q will be guaranteed to hit them and not bounce).

Use your bouncing bombs from range to farm. You don't even need to be close to the wave to get the farm. It lets you push from great distances without sticking your slow neck out to get ganked.

His strength is pushing and zoning picking him against an all in comp could be a really bad idea (also depending on your team) whenever i play ziggs i go for lichbane (instead of ludens) he is really good in a sieging comp with the likes of cait/zyra/nida (and some others) whose long range will zone the opponents so ziggs can push freely you should avoid fights against champions with burst damage his skills are just not realiable enough and he can be easily outplayed with a flash with ziggs should always focus on keeping the distance between you and the enemies so most of the time you shouldnt use your e and w offensive

I agree that ziggs is on the weak side right now. He can work in specific strategies(mostly fast push strategies), but overall he is lacking. Imo the main issue is how unreliable his Q is as his main damage tool. Ever since the nerfs to the Q hitbox, he hardly did have any realy succes and never was played in proplay again.

He's hard to carry with because he doesn't kill well. I mean he does tons of damage, but the damaged enemies can just recall so all he does is give your team some brief moments to push and take something on a regular basis, but he doesn't necessarily win fights or get kills that let your team make much bigger pushes. And ever since this season started, it has seemed like the kills are definitely what really give you the big opportunities to push, so they forced recalls from being poked have been overshadowed too strongly.

He's just too unreliable for damage output which isn't on par to a hypercarry like Azir (who also has great CC, better zone control and higher safety along with the ability to get solo kills).

I don't know of single Masters or Challenger player who mains Ziggs. There are no shortage of players at those brackets who main Azir, Ahri and Zed though. Ziggs has never been the same since they nerfed his Q width. With that said, I think Ziggs is exploited much harder in high ELO. I don't really see him making a comeback since many of his weaknesses are only magnified in this meta and teams are far less one-dimensional (unlike when he was strong).

One area I'd buff on Ziggs is the Satchel Charge. That's his escape and it has a fairly long CD so you should be rewarded for using it offensively instead given the risk you expose yourself to. It's pathetic that it ha sa 35% AP ratio. I'd make it at least a 50% AP ratio for such a skill. It's not spammable, it's not long range, it's not maxed first, it's not a huge area of effect, it's not easy to land and it's risky to use.... 35% AP ratio is silly.

He's hard to carry on because his main damage spell is extremely unreliable and difficult to hit in the later portions of the game.
