You know, I haven't seen any of those honor badges since they came out a long time ago
I remember having a red one, but it disappeared after the season ended.

Prettymuch only streamers and youtubers have them. Honoring people died out about 2 years ago. I still do it, but only if someone really impressed me, and if I don't forget.
I used to honor a lot more, but then people started honoring me less, so it became harder to remember to honor other people. Now I barely honor anyone more than once in 20 games. I used to dole out an honor every couple games before, often to the majority of both my team and the enemy team. Now I barely remember that I can honor players.
It doesn't help that Riot made the buttons for honoring players extremely tiny on the new client UI. I often forget it exists until I randomly get an Honorable Opponent notification after a match.
Riot talked about doing something with Honor years ago but nothing ever happened. Now I have literally hundreds of Honor points built up that do nothing so it's hard to even feel like Honoring someone is remotely worth it unless someone was just being really chill and funny in All Chat or something.
true but sad.
3 reasons come to mind:
1: honor degrades over time. 2: nobody bothers to use it anymore. 3: Only the top % of honored players have ribbons.
So....... Ya. Honoring is kind of a waste of energy.
What percentage gets the ribbons? I have the honorable opponent one with not too many honors.
Like the top 1%.
I got every single one of them.
And then they faded because people hardly ever honor anymore.
Don't think I have seen any since s4
I think honor should carry more weight. I only honor people for being above-and-beyond carry or for actually impressing me with mechanical skills, and I don't get impressed easily.
I don't see the connection, so I hope you don't mind if I ask one thing; what do carrying or mechanical skills have to do with the honor categories: friendliness, offering guidance, teamwork or being an honorable opponent? I personally give honors for behavior instead of skills or results.
ive never honored anyone and i most likely never will. to balance it out i never reported anyone either.
I fail to see logic here
I just hope you dont take this mentality into rl

well I would never call the police on anyone for any reason if that's what you mean.
I am boi-ing behind my screen right now.
my cousin had one
It's really just the new players that have them. People stop caring to honor others as they get more experience.
I still honor usually one or two players per game, and more often than not my opponents (read: enemy Singed ran a 4v1 successfully, didn't 'ggez' and still managed to quickly refocus his efforts after that dazzling display). I have (had?) the teamwork one and I try to live up to it by being a quintessential teammate, buying things the team needs (Wounds) and trying to figure out the best path to victory.
'Course, that don't matter for shit in League. League is far beyond an 'honor system' and that's because any reward attached means people will scam it, and no reward means people won't use it.
I never honor because staying in the score screen is just asking for someone to shit talk you as often happens in the score screen
I saw someone with a Green Ribbon in one of my games recently.
I've got no clue what the Green Ribbon means (Teamwork? Friendly? Helpful? Honorable Opponent?), but they had it.
With as many things as there are crammed in the loading screen, the Honor Ribbons don't stand out when someone has them and they aren't easily interpreted as an achievement. At this point, I think more people realize "oh, your skin has a fancy splash art, you bought the skin early" than even know what the ribbon is or means.
i recall having 3 of em till i got chat restricted for 3 games which made all the honors disappear.
I used to have the teamwork one. Basically I was playing much more like swain and giving tactics out to win the game.
Main reason I'm good at tactics is cause all my friends (in real life) have agreed that if my father is not playing I'm team leader basically.
no wonder swain is the perfect champion for you then...
Typically the rule in most of our parties in just about any game is one that I got from some single player games particularly the shin megami tensei series.
Typically I take on one of the most important rules in the group which is also whatever we might need at the time. As long as I don't die till the objectives are complete that's all that matters.
I mean that was more along the lines of how swain is "the master tactician", and you were talking about giving tactics out to win...
I'm aware of that. I'm just saying where my main rules came from. Typically I'm playing the only mage on our team thus the not letting me die part since I'm our only magic damage.
Damn I used to have the yellow one that's the most difficult to obtain, I miss those days... It's my fault that I lost it tho
:)
I still have the green one :3 since the last season.
I only honor trolls and feeders.
i got the bunny teemo skin from being honored so much
I don't know if I could get rid of my red one if I tried. I had a green one for a few months after joining in early s5, then it switched to red around the middle of s5. I haven't lost it since, even when I played Devourer Fizz bruiser. >.>
Friend used to have the friendly one.
maybe you should do more things that would get you one, then...
I have not seen one for at least 2 seasons if not more. On anyone.
Play bot games and you'll see them way more often.
Had a friend with the red and another with the Green but they long since disappeard since Season 5 ended.
I used to have all of them.
I had the green one for over a year, yellow one for half a year, blue one for a few weeks and red ones for a few days.
They all disappeared after I stopped couching strangers in bot games.
I really have to remember to give out honors to people who impressed me, it's just becoming so easy to forget after a game.
Back when honors first came out, every other day I would swap between yellow(teamwork) and green (friendly) ribbons. Eventually it stopped changing and I have had green since then. It is very rare though, only about once or twice this year have I seen a ribbon other than red (honorable opponent). It is exceedingly more difficult over time to gain honors since so few people bother with it anymore. In fact, a few weeks ago, I got a premades group who noticed it during the loading screen and decided to try to make me lose it by flaming and taunting me in the hopes that I would lash back and get banned. It didn't work lol (Inb4 "lol why does the guy named meaniehead have a friendly ribbon")
i still have mine....never lost it.....it has changed colors though. I 1st got Red...which is the main one i think everyone got for honorable opponent. Then it was green, then yellow and then back to green and has been green ever since. i never had the blue.
From what i do know about the badges are that i believe you can lose the points for them if you have ever been punished by riot like a ban or something. also if you stop receiving honor.
There isnt an incintev to do it.
If YOU wont get anything when people do it for you, why would you expect people to care to do it for others?
Dawngate (effin E.A.), and now Overwatch have similar systems, but there is a tangible bonus for the "honored" player.
What we need is a reason to want to be honored... AKA rewards.
Make a special set of skins (honor skins).
Now these skins would still have to be purchased, but would be fairly cheap (200 RP) and can only be purchased if you hold the corresponding honor badge.
So people want the coolest honor skin for their champ (Honorable Opponent) they all of a sudden have to stop saying "gg ez" in chat.
If people want the sweetest skin their champ has to offer, they need to earn the (Friendly or Helpful) badge and stop calling their team garbage and retards.
I mean carrot and stick Riot. You want a non toxic community, its easier to get people to CHOOSE to act like their not an asshole than is is to FORCE them to act like theyre not an asshole. Once people act right long enough to get their rewards, maybe they will get a taste for it and just KEEP acting that way.
Dont like that idea?
Ok, what if every badge earned also gave a 2% ip boost while you had it? Earn 4 and get an 8% boost. The duration of the badges would maybe have to be altered so people keep up the good behavior.
Even better, what if earning a badge gave bonus RP when buying RP in the store? 1% RP bonus for each badge earned? Imagine the new legion of straight laced, pleasant, non toxic players trying to earn badges with good behavior so they can get some extra RP?
If we want something out of the honor system, then something has to go in first. No rewards/incentive, then no results.
got two times the green one. both disappeared after some weeks.
I had the red one and green one back in season 3.
Now it feels like every game ends in salt between everyone in the game. With this stupid snowball meta, honourable opponent is irrelevant because people end up hating the winning team. I end up getting a teamwork honour sometimes, but it's not common.
I stopped honoring cause lack of teamwork and toxicity but if you showed you're worthy then hey.
I’m almost max honour this season
