Is it just me, or is the amount of decent ADC players dwindling?

I just ended a game with my Caitlyn, a lane bully, going 0/9 in the game. It's not even like she was practicing her character: she was mastery 5, but she had no basic mechanics. Couldn't dodge anything from their support, constantly engaged without me (Thresh), and made no efforts to play safe when behind. She died 4 times before even leaving lane and just afk farmed the rest of the game. This has been happening more and more frequently with the ADCs I've had in my matches. It just feels like the amount of people who actually know how to play ADC are just gone, and it's really frustrating as a support player.

Blame the ardent censer meta last season. It allowed adcs to get away with terrible positioning.

Because everyone is sick and tired of their adcs costing them the game. It gets to the point everyone would prefer to play adc even if they're mediocre at it, to prevent others from feeding bot lane. They want to carry and not be crippled by their adc being terrible at the game. Check your adcs every game, I guarantee you 50% of them will be ex-top lane mains, another 25% will be jungle mains, 10% mid lane and the other 15% will actually be ADC mains.

I had 1 bad ADC player = Good adc players must be disappearing

What the fuck is this logic and why the hell are people not downvoting this for being useless because it's illogical.

ADC is a fun role and all, but after a while of all that pressure and stress of being flamed at builds up, after a while it just isn't fun. The entire laning phase you try to farm up while you have to be careful by an all in by the enemy that will most probably kill you, like Thresh or Blitz. Most of the time you need to burn a summoner 4, but sometimes you still die anyways. I can't stand playing ADC when the enemy Thresh needs one hook and I'm dead, and then I get flamed at. I mean, I suck at dodging, but still...

Other lanes don't have those one hit kill threats (Unless you're like Zoe or something) so they're so much funner to play, since you can actually FEEL like you're outputting damage, and those lanes seem to be pushed more than bot lane, since end game it usually becomes obsolete. When I play Xayah, until I get Infinity Edge and Essence Reaver, my attacks feel like bee stings, and no matter how fed I get, I still feel useless because of champs like Karma and Lulu with their shields. Not to mention that assasins like Rengar and Kha Zix can just all in me and BAM I'm not doing any damage for like the next 40 seconds, and chances are the team fight is over.

Basically I despise supports : ^)

I'm gonna get down voted aren't I?

Funny you should mention this, just last night I was duoing with a friend of mine, and we were playing top and mid respectively. In 3 straight games our bot lane got stomped hard and we lost.

We decided the next game to take bot lane for ourselves. I have little to no experience on any ADC except pre-rework graves, and my friend almost never plays support, but we were able to win simply by playing safe, not dying, and letting our opponents make mistakes for us to capitalize on.

I think bot lane players feel like they have to get fed early and carry the game, but sometimes you just need to step back, look at your team composition versus theirs, and realize that simply not losing botlane is enough to win the game.

ADCs are oversaturated, because we KNOW they are on the top of the meta this season

Sirsir2/2/2018, 6:22:58 PM6 votes

Lane bullies are in a pretty shit spot right now (cept MF) not that I'm complaining.

But yeah in the one-shot meta its not surprising some carry players are giving up

Theres a few reasons for this:

  1. Last year ADC was the main meta. No other lane mattered, all that mattered was getting bot lane ahead to get ardent censor and win. This cause many players to leave their main role, and move to ADC.
  2. This season, shields are broken nonstop. Relic, support shield, overheal, Bloodthirster shield, theres too many shields that is making ADC's think they constantly have them when they dont. Thus dying a lot because they dont know their limit.
  3. Support damage is too high. I was watching a Janna support 3 days ago doing 25% of my adc's health with her w. Like wtf, not to mention you got Leona and alistars that can 1v2 and take no damage.

  1. Cait is trash rn.

  2. Supports do way to much damage. It doesn't matter if youre challenger in a bronze v game if leo lands 1 e on you or ali combos you youre going to die 100%, theres nothing you can do about it.

I'm an ADC main and I'm gradually shifting more to mid and top. I've been maining this position since I started playing the game and I just feel like everything is out of my control as an ADC. I don't feel like I deserve the credit for getting fed and I don't feel like I deserve the blame for feeding. I hate it when my skill and all the practice I put in is irrelevant.

There are so many external factors to my ability as an ADC in every match that none of it seems to rely on how good I am at carrying. It's more about if my team is good or trash.

"But adc is super easy to play and you just right click!"

Lauchmelder2/3/2018, 9:02:56 AM4 votes

That tends to happen when botlane is the strongest lane in the game. People just want to carry, and if it's only possible from botlane they will flock to there.

Who hasn't seen an Ezreal that doesn't auto-attack?

I think the notion that people spread about ADC players being all that matters this season has brought in a ton of non seasoned ADC's. Basically people trying to climb as meta slaves.

Played with an m7 Vayne yesterday and was pretty excited to get a good ADC and a good player. Turns out she couldn't target the enemy ADC and was losing 1v1 to Morgana while I was trying to kill their 10% health Twitch.

i can completely agree with you, in my past few ranked games i always had terrible adcs. No idea why are they so bad.

Krytoric2/3/2018, 12:38:24 PM3 votes

Its just how the meta is, im an ADC main, had a pretty good win rate in plat, but im taking a break from ADC, you can get tower dove at like level 3 and die, Leona or Ali can just face tank you, take no damage and kill you, roaming and TPing has become much easier, champs like Zoe LITERALLY one shotting people, stupid stop watch making people not get punished for mistakes, and tanks being absolute hell to play against.

There might be more bad ADC's around, but idk i put so much practice into the role and it means next to nothing in this meta, you cant survive against supports in lane, you cant survive one shots, you cant survive assassins, and i cant even poke a tank or juggernaut without getting blasted by % health damage or true damage, its a really feelsbadman role at the moment, people just love to hate it /shrug

Thefrostyviking2/3/2018, 3:45:34 PM3 votes

OP you seem to have missed something, Cait isn't a lanebully anymore, rather her winrates for early and midgame are all pretty low.

She is a lategame marksman now, this is enforced by having lower base stats than everyone else, including those like kog/vayne/twitch, but a higher attackspeed growth than any of them except Koggy due to his Q passive.

Yara02/3/2018, 11:24:58 AM2 votes

Yah i main adc now and im bad but i honestly love the role when the game is even (getting hit by a 1400 true damage Camille q is not enjoyable for me for some reason lul) but after playing a full 2 years of support my adc mechanics have gone to shit i actually just realearned how to trade in lane lol.

KaisadiIIa2/3/2018, 11:26:49 AM2 votes

Lack of diversity. On one hand, there are very few ADCs, and most of them play really similar. That makes it unappealing to main ADC compared to maining mages (the difference between Xerath, Ziggs, Malzahar, Ahri, etc are enormous).

On the other hand, bot is the only lane where you are confined to a single role, which means people don't main bot unless they main ADC. The other positions have higher diversity: In mid you play a lot of mages + some assassins, and you always have a random FotM tank or bruisher being played. On top, you play from tanks to bruishers, but you can also bring mages there. Jungle? Each champion is a world. From Xin Zhao to Zac, going through Zyra, every jungle is unique. Even in Support, Leona, Zyra, Taric or Nidalee play completely different.

If RIOT wants more and better ADC/bot players, then they must both allow ADCs to be played in other lanes and allow non-ADCs to be played in bot. Yasuo + Nami, for example, should have been a competitively viable botlane, or Malphite + Irelia, things like that.

Yep. That´s it. On point!

No, most ADC's are just trash. Its always been like that.

Reverent Wrath2/3/2018, 2:19:03 AM1 votes

More likely that there are a lot of new adcs since it is obviously the most favored lane by RiOT. Everyone wants to feel like they can make a difference, not be stuck in top lane with thumb in ass all game.
