I am a 7 year Shaco main. I thought up the current best win % Shaco build this patch. AMA.

Said build being: item 1402 item 3020 item 3146 item 3100 item 3089 item 3031

Here's the original post about it and why it works so effectively:

Here's the thought process: Assuming no runes or masteries are had and before resistances come into play, we build the following:

Runic Echoes (2625 gold) Sorc Shoes (1100 gold) Gunblade (3400 gold) Lich Bane (3200 gold) Deathcap (3800 gold) Infinity Edge (3600 gold)

Together, this build nets you a nice 340 + 35% = 459 AP and 117 + 110 = 227 AD.

Shaco's Backstab works with Deceive. That said, we can now easily notice that with Infinity Edge, our backstab is only doing 5% less than a normal crit. So, 195% damage of a spell that is already going to be dealing 227 + 80 = 307 from AD and 50% of 459 = 230 damage from AP. = 537 physical damage. 195% of 537 is 1047 physical damage and Lich Bane will then deal an extra 75% of AD (82) + 50% of AP (230) is an extra 312 magical damage.

One spell will be dealing 1359 damage, assuming you hit them from behind. Follow this up with a Gunblade for 250 + 30% of AP (138) = 388 magical damage and a shiv for 125 + 90% of AP (413) + 85% of AD (193) = 713 magic damage.PLUS then Echoes will proc, dealing an additional 60 + 10% (46) = 106 magical damage

Together, using these three spells, Shaco is able to put out 1400 (+8% of their missing health at the very end) magical damage and 1047 physical damage for 2447 total mixed damage to his target.

The build is expensive at 17,725 gold, but this is looking like one of the most promising paths to build assuming you're able to earn gold for it. While perhaps not the absolute best against tanks (you'll only have around 35 magic pen), you'll be able to do what your role says you should. Goodbye, pesky ADC's, midlaners, and squishy jungles.

Nah, Shaco still isn't that good.

Definitely the best build to 100:0. I just hate the lack of sustained damage and by extension worse farming.

ChickenWrap1 votes

There isn't really worse farming. Once you use your box to aid you, you can still clear a wave or camp pretty fast.

I rush Tiamat as AD Shaco, and the farming is significantly improved. After trying AP more extensively, it became clear to me that your build not only deletes carries, it scales better than straight AD does. I just really like the consistency that strong farming allows, because it grows even marginal leads into significant advantages, and it does not rely on the competency of allies nor incompetency of opposing players.

  1. No HP in the build. I could see this shaco being burst down very easily by an AP champ or ADC.
  2. Why not incorporate say a P.belt + (Luden/gunblade/Runic/lichbane) .. I mean it looks like you are trying to accomplish a burst build of something, why not invest?
  3. The cash for that build is ... wow.. and honestly not realistic in the upper games I watch.
  4. The Shaco's that have done well in this meta have all built some form of bruiser. There are just too many perks associated with sustain builds with recent patches. And .... The others have gone full AP. why your build?
  5. If you are going mostly AP why not some sort of AP penetration (rather than just sorc.boots) or leathatlity? You lose a lot of damage without keeping this in mind especially late game which your build is aiming for.
  6. Shaco is just too weak, rather than trying to find an AD/AP build with no focus; why the split between the two stats? the IE really just doesn't fix his broken passive that needs to be fixed.

  1. Yes, except they die first. AD Shaco also does not utilize HP in his build either and Tank/Bruiser Shaco is fairly lackluster right now IMO.
  2. Protobelt does significantly less damage than Gunblade does on its proc, but even more so because Shaco scales with both AD and AP, so Gunblade is a far better item right now. The only reason you would take Protobelt is if you're afraid your waveclear isn't good enough.
  3. Usually the games end before IE, but I haven't reached a late-game where I don't make the full build. You kill a lot of people.
  4. This is untrue. If that were the case, then this build would not be the highest build path at 54% win ratio. https://gyazo.com/a4d38f1c5b548a304407521b9de9854b.jpg
  5. Your job is to kill the squishy targets, not the tanks. If the squishy targets are building resistance, by all means go for the penetration. That said, the build does a ton of hybrid damage as well. It's not just physical or magical, it's both. It's hard to itemize against getting hit with 1k of each damage type.
  6. Shaco is weak, yes. This build shouldn't be his best possible build, it's silly. The focus is very clear, though. Shaco has good dual scaling and easy ways to make use of it with items that benefit him and the fact that his Q scales with AP but deals physical damage and can deal bonus damage through landing a critical strike. the IE does more than fix his broken stats, it allows him, with his Gunblade, to also be able to hold his own after his abilities are blown. He has enough attack damage to still be a threat after the fact.

On the subject of the Gunblade over the Protobelt. Are you concerned that in some cases the Protobelt does more damage than the gunblade when multiple bolts hit?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1IsfW6K_aE&feature=youtu.be&t=6m14s

If worked right you can get a more damaging item, better farm, cooldown reduction and less costly item.

And I have seen some terrific damage with utilizing a Ludens and some combination of Hex item. I just figure if you state getting to that IE is just out of reach sometimes; why not just go the rest of the way AP. Save some cash along the way too.

ChickenWrap2 votes

Gunblade has more AP and also gives Shaco bonus AD to his autos and his E ratios. Gunblade deals more damage. Won't get better farm, just slightly faster farm. CDR is nice, though.

You can go full AP, that's fine. IE is the goal item though.

Tried it for five games, and dumpstered all five games. I'm actually becoming convinced.

I wouldn't call it arguing. I never to my recollection said anything against your build.

  1. Why do you think Riot refuses to play up Shaco's unique tell-tale signs? (His puff of smoke and evil laugh upon disappearing? If they were more visible / more audible, his ganks would be 'weaker' meaning he could afford to not have his invis duration gutted, yea?)

  2. Why do you think Riot refuses to give Shaco's boxes a 'wind-down' timer like Jhin's traps? Wouldn't this be more organic counterplay than requiring an item-specific hard-counter that renders his traps totally useless?

  3. Why do you think Riot opted for the 'illuminati boxes' upon clone death, rather than increasing the duration of the clone? (The implication being longer duration allows for more mind-games and baits and outplays.)

  4. What do you think of this Shaco update. (It's not a rework, what Riot did to Shaco is a rework.)

  5. What do you think of the current state of the vision game, and specifically, these two vision-centric Support champion concepts of mine?

ChickenWrap1 votes
  1. Because that would have destroyed Shaco's ability to do his job. His entire self would be weaker. The orange smoke is already such a dead give-away if you're paying attention. I don't mind the way Deceive scales now, though. One full jungle clear sets Shaco at level 4 with a rank 2 Deceive which is enough to gank.

  2. Shaco's boxes are already weak. A wind-down before or during the fear before damage application would make them completely useless. Between the wind-up time in which you can hit them and kill them and the wind-down time where you'd also be able to hit them, they would need to give Shaco a whole new spell. That said, Control Wards are ridiculous and shut down with his JiTBs and his mini-boxes. Same with Oracle's Lens, and that one is free.

  3. The clone already lasts for a long time. It was a way to give power to both AD and AP Shaco's clones without doing something like maknig the clone as strong as Shaco. Increasing the duration isn't needed.

  4. It looks inherently broken.

  5. I'll get back to you in awhile.

How capable is shaco of pulling off this:

http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/ZEvEJag7-can-we-do-something-about-the-whole-game-warping-krug-situation

And how do you feel about it in general as a jungler?

ChickenWrap1 votes

Shaco's pretty capable. I'm not too bothered though, I can multi-camp start, so If I'm red side, I won't really be behind. All you have to do now is just skip raptors on Shaco during your full clear, which saves him a ton of health.

How do I deal with the illuminati after the clone death?

ChickenWrap2 votes

Control ward or Oracle's. They have a charge time but, you know. Not like it matters when you can disable it immediately.

GULAG 4 U1 votes

So I must attempt to AOE them before they do anything amrite?

ChickenWrap1 votes

Or just activate Oracle's...

You mean the build that's been on Champion.gg since the rework?

ChickenWrap2 votes

Yes, the one that I theorycrafted the day of the rework and other Shaco players played with me to great success.

That one. I can provide proof if you'd like.

Shac Norris1 votes

How do you revert the rework?

ChickenWrap1 votes

Time machines, then you ask Riot to talk to long time Shaco mains instead of doing their own thing and messing up a champion again.

Shac Norris1 votes

If time machines were possible, then Shaco's rework would have already been reverted, because time travelers don't care about the ''present'' remember?
