can I play against people my rank in normals?

am unranked and going against golds and silver is just plain unfair especially when the rest of my team is unranked too.

Normal MMR and Ranked MMR are different. If you played Ranked there is a chance that is where you might level out too. I'm also unranked and I commonly get plat - diamond players in my normal drafts. It would be nice to see your Normal MMR somehow, but not really that important.

If you get beat that often in your current MMR you should slowly be dropping down. Unfortunately the only way to move down is to lose which generally sucks.

Rest assured, most people in silver in gold aren't better than the typical unranked person. I say this as someone who was once in gold 3, now gold 5. If your MMR is that high, it's supposedly evenly matched, and that's the truth.

i never play ranked so what MMR i have. the websites say i have to play ranked to get an MMR. my winrate is 50%. its nothing special. over 1000 matches

MMR exists in both the ranked queue and the normal queue. Most websites that can tell you what your MMR is only look at the ranked MMR. Ranked and Normal MMR don't effect each other at all though.

Normals have their own MMR.

Everyone's winrate is close to 50% in normals. That means the system is working. If you had a 25% winrate you be going against people better than you. If you had a 25% lose rate that would mean you were going against players worse than you. The fact you're at 50% shows the match maker is working.

You're not going against people better than you though. The purpose of the MMR system is to create two teams that are roughly equal. The fact that you're winning about half of your games seems about right. The fact that you're unranked means nothing for two reasons:

  1. The MMR for ranked is separate from the MMR from normal. Different systems, so you can't compare them.
  2. Being unranked has nothing to do with anything. It only means you don't play in the ranked queue. Unranked people can have high normal MMRs and be very good players or have low normal MMRs and be very poor players.

That isn't true. Normals have their own, which many people have already pointed out to you. The only point I was trying to make is that silver and gold are nothing special. If you play well, you can hang with them. So it sounds like you do.
