How do I get around her stupid ass AoE spam? I mean c'mon, it's bad enough she has high damage, but AoE and great utility, just wtf
how am I supposed to get around her? I've tried going Fizz against her I went full CDR + over 500 AP, same with Ahri but Riven can be quite tanky with just hexdrinker, how the hell do we even beat her?
The Sword Saint2 votesKnow the lane or your champ better than the riven player does. She has to tools to overcome most lanes if she is the more skilled player. Failing that you can pick tons of common top laners that make her life hell while being far easier to use and with more teamfight impact, mostly tanks.

MunchCrunchLunch1 votesmost of rivens damage. comes from auto attacks. I was playing nasus the other day. I got my ass kicked against riven. I know am countered early game. we had a noodle fight late game. I had lifesteal. I literally had 45% lifesteal. not a lot of stacks. 500 but i had tf. so I was doing some good damage. she outsustained all my damage being full squish i look at the death report she did about 3k damage with auto attacks. a good riven is the one that can cancel autos like crazy.
riven kinda beats tanks if she isn't behind. but she will lose to bruisers that can kinda do as much damage as her while being tankier
Ralanr1 votesYou gotta bait her knock up and be durable. Count them, when she hits the second, back off. If she doesn't W again for a few seconds then the combo ends up resetting.
Riven wants to all in and kill you for a snowball. The best you can do is deny her a kill. This will frustrate her and cause her to take stupid risks that you can cap on.
Being a tank that can stun people under tower helps.

Icestar11861 votesThere are actually a lot of counters, but Maokai is ideal. Riven is a bit of an AD caster, and Maokai gets free sustain from people casting spells. He has his Q for disengage and his W to punish mistakes (like if she tries to towerdive you). E gives you OK poke, and your ult is damage reduction. You'll survive the laning phase relatively easily and have a much greater impact in teamfights.
