Can we remove the Villain mechanic and replace it with access to Conquer and Aftershock and possibly Electrocute.

Here me out, as most Garen mains would agree that removing the RNG Villain mechanic is a good step in the right direction for Garen, allowing room for changes in other parts of his kit. This change would give him access to Runes that would actually be good on him, as he has no runes that are GOOD on him.

Why? Well lets start with the fact that Garen has the smallest pool of runes that he can effectively use out of ALL champions. Every champion can effectively use 3 or 4 runes well, other than Garen. Garen's rune is Grasp, and this is pretty much the ONLY rune you will ever see a Garen use. Occasionally you will see Predator Garen in the Jungle or Phase Rush Garen top, but those are less than 8% of the time COMBINED and they do not do very well on him. Any other rune is pretty much trolling on Garen as they are terribly ineffective.

Garens most effective dueling combo in the early game is AA>Q>E, but most of the time you rarely get that AA in there unless your opponent is engaging on you in melee range. This is why any Rune that requires more than 1 AA is extremely ineffective, and why runes that require 3+ individual/separate spell hits are just as ineffective. This is due to E not counting as separate hits with each spinning proc. Late game its even worse, as you will almost NEVER get a free AA at the start of your combo.

Change 1: Make Es spin procs count as individual hits.

What would this affect? The only thing this would affect is Phase Rush, Electrocute, and more importantly Conquer. It would not affect any items, or any other champions or runes.

What 1 ability to fully stack Rush, Electrocute and Conquer! Are you series! Well yes, but remember Garen's E starts out spinning 5 times over 3 seconds. meaning it would take a full 3 second spin to fully proc Conquer, and 1.8 seconds to proc Electrocute or Rush. Other champions can stack/proc these FAR FASTER and can even do it at a safer range, like Urgot who can do the same with his W, but faster (3 hits every second) and at 500 range.

Change 2: Make Aftershock Proc off of Silences.

What/Who would this affect? This would primarily affect Garen, and have a minor affect on Blits, Cho, Fiddle, and Malz. Every champion I listed here are the champions with Silences, of which Garen is the only one who can not Proc Aftershock, thus allowing Silences to proc aftershock would minorly affect the other 4 champions as they could already proc it via a separate ability any way.

Why is this good for Garen? It's not just good for Garen, its good for the game as a whole. As it should not have RNG affects such as his Villian mechanic. And the trade off of dealing 1% Max HP true damage per hit/spin and R doing true damage for the ability to use Conquer and Aftershock effectively would be a great step in the right direction for Garen.

if villainy was removed, it would have to come with significant other buffs. and i mean huge.

if youre picking conqueror, youre not picking grasp, so all you do is enable him to trade one keystone that synergizes with him for another. which can be useful but would not make him actually a carry or return any of the power to him that you removed.

people tend to underestimate just how much of his power budget is tied up in the ability. just giving him access to conqueror alone would not nearly be enough compensation.

to be honest, he should have access to conqueror either way with the way his kit is right now.
