Gnar Gneeds Gnerfs

Before I go into what needs nerfed and why, I'd like to address what someone would be bound to bring up if I didn't:

"b-b-but he only has a 48% winrate!"

Of course he has a low winrate, he is a champion who is dependent on two things - team cooperation and rage management, and we all know Bronze, Silver, and even Gold players (90% of the playerbase) have trouble with those two things. When you look at Ranked 5's in Plat and Diamond, Gnar's winrate balloons to 55+%. Gnar is the most contested top laner in pro play right now. He is frequently banned, and if he isn't banned he is picked. There is obviously a problem here.

Now, why is Gnar a good pick? He is a strong lane presence that transitions into a teamfighting MVP lategame. There wouldn't be anything totally wrong about this identity if he weren't good at absolutely everything else too. Mobility? Yes. Tank Shred? Yes. Poke? Yeah. Waveclear? Totally. Gnar's biggest problem is that he does way too many other things besides his cool niche.

So what nerf(s) does Gnar need? I think what needs to take a hit is his W passive, Hyper. Now, Gnar has a strong lane phase, especially against melees. Hyper is unfair because it invalidates the armor that melees build to counter his poke. Gnar already has tons of anti-tank itemization available . If he wants to kill tanks, let him build for it, don't just give it to him free in his kit, which already has strong poke and reliable burst to kill squishies. Hyper needs to either A) do physical damage, or B) only do flat, non-scaling damage.

This single nerf might not address all of Gnar's problems, but Gnar isn't something like Nidalee where its so annoying to play against that you'd like it gutted. I personally really like Gnar's design, but I feel his kit really is suffering from Riot's overloading.
