Darius' Q radius nerf is in the wrong direction

Disclaimer: I am a long time fan of Darius and happy to see him not being a troll pick anymore, but he does need to be addressed

I understand what you're trying to do, keeping the massive damage if he lands it but making it easier to avoid so that he has more peaks and troughs in his power.

Now to my understanding, this is just increasing the length of the "handle" while keeping the range the same, but what you should be doing is looking at the base damage buff you gave it originally. For how much he scales he trades too hard early without Noxian Might due to those numbers

Every champion needs a certain amount of reliability, and instead of lowering his power in general you're only making him weaker against mobile melees that can stay in the inner circle. He'll still shit on immobile melees because they get slowed and can't dodge the blade

I think the Apprehend slow nerf is fine, but consider lowering his Q base damage to 130 or 120 instead of 160, possibly even lower if you make Noxian Might give more AD or increase the total AD scaling slightly

No it needs this change, as most large champs (naut, sion, garen....ect) cant physicly fit inside the inner circle completely, meaning they get hit by the outer part no matter where they are or how close to darius they are.

Sorry but over here in G&B we have decided that only mages and ADCs are allowed to be powerful so Darius must be gutted in every way possible

His Q is overloaded way too much:

  • main for trading
  • defense in team fights
  • lane sustain
  • lane push
  • AE stack application
  • hardest hitting skill

Darius shits all over immobile champs and gets shit on by anything that isn't. Take damage out of Q and extend the range on E or have E's CD reduced by ranged poke, remove or lower the armor pen if you must. Too much rides on Darius landing his Q right now, it dwarf's his W and E far too much, it's overbearing when it lands and is excruciating when it misses.

I'd also reduce the healing on Q and add some mitigation elsewhere, maybe remove the healing on Q and add spell vamp to his passive, who knows.

I wish they would just remove the heal. Darius would be fine if it wasn't for that.

He already deals a ton of burst and sustained damage, all while building tanky, so the burst heal just doesn't make sense.

He should at least have to build for that kind of sustain, kind of like he did pre-rework. He shouldn't get it for free.

I honestly love the radius idea. Darius outer Q is pretty easy to hit, and is absolutely the hardest skill to pull off well in his kit. Rather than hitting the damage numbers, and full on slicing his maximum power, why not reward people for playing the Q well, and make his weakness (mobility that keeps you on the inner Q) more apparent to people other than fiora? Renekton is a great example of someone with the mobility to juke to the center, but his model is just too large. This will allow the Jax Q, Renekton E, and riven e (riven isnt particularly large, but has an oddly WIDE model from left shoulder to right hand) to be ways of reliably dodging the blade with good game sense.

A lot of people are freaking out over in worlds even though worlds is an entire patch behind using 5.18 and darius has gotten nerfed. I would say that darius is being overhyped by the worlds and then on patch 5.19 where he is semi-balanced as he has a 51% winrate is getting banned out completely.

I will admit someone like Darius and other snowbally melee champions are a nightmare in soloque but nothing out of the ordinary.

I think it makes sense that they nerf the range of his axe. It emphasizes his need to get in closer for damage, and his weakness to kiting and his lack of mobility. That being said, I do think that it is better to nerf the damage, so he has to stay in the enemy team for a longer time which also emphasizes his weaknesses.

Riot doesnt give a shit, they nerf whoever they want and will NOT go back on there decision untill they see that champion become worthless, and then if we are lucky after 5+ patches of that nerf being implemented they will say "whoops, our bad" and revert the nerf.
