This situation is the very definition of "One step ahead, two steps back"

Remember when Aatrox was first released, was considered too strong and got overnerfed into oblivion? Remember when he was memed about being so weak he didn't even exist? Remember when it took years for him to be relevant once again, just to be completely ~~deleted~~ reworked mere weeks after?

Well, this is him now, going through the whole cycle once again. It doesn't matter if you name it "Aatrox" or "red Riven", this champion didn't deserve this. There are very few champions who go through this level of overnerf, yet this is already Aatriven's second time (three times if you consider the short time after his mini-rework pre-buffs) with two entirely different kits.

Remember how old Aatrox was literally unbalanceable, because he was either a useless piece of crap or was a draintanking monster?

New one at least can at least be fixed by balance changes.

Unbalanceable? Aatrox only received minor adjustments and then was forgotten to rot away. His minor adjustments are also spaced one to two years apart from each other. His mini-rework took 4 years, that's unacceptable for any champion.

If Riot actually experimented with changes instead of ignoring their problem child then I would agree with you but from the Patch Notes it honestly looks like they just put him in a corner and let him sit there for years while feeding him once every few years.

New Aatrox also starts to become Feast or Famine since all of his power-budget is based on his Q, that's why he's also a balancing nightmare.

I'm possibly biased since I have played this champion since release but these are my thoughts on him.
