Why are supports so.... unliked?

I believe we can all agree, the amount of support player is NOT 1/5th of the community.

Supports have been constantly looked down upon, even though they share the same quality has tanks (some) or DPS mages, they are considered support champions and are unliked on other lanes, Leona could be a good top laner! but no one wants to try it because its a "support"

Champions can be changed, but now we talk role, People randomly INT because they get the support with the power of "A U T O F I L L", or just dodge when they don't get their role.

This is a post with a question but not a solution from the author. I just have no way of dealing with this problem.

Because alot of people believe that supports cannot carry. And everyone wants to be in the spotlight. They want to make the big kill plays and stuff. Most people dont want to sit back and heal (lets face it though damage is so high that healing is laughable rn) or protect or take damage. Because there isn't much glory in it. Lets also add in the fact that you have to have follow up for things to work out, if they dont you dont get a kill you blew a bunch of mana for nothing and you have probably a huge chunk of health or you are dead. Hopefully someone else sees what happened or else its your fault. Or lets say you take the kill. Then people will bitch that you are taking their kills (I don't see this happen to much but when it does its a real drag). In other words you are supposed to do everything but at the same time take the fault when nothing happens or things go bad.

supports arent unliked, feeding teammates are. your ADC will praise the shit out of you if your getting him/her the kills. youre just doing it wrong. and people dodge when they dont get there role simply because they cant play it, ie, a toplane mid being forced jungle. not only supports get autofilled.

also leona top wont work well because her passive was designed for a duolane, as with other supports. their kits are by design meant for themselves and a plus 1

Idk man, as a support main this sounds like a “You” problem, not a “we” problem.

The support role is not for everyone, it's about taking a step out of the spotlight and doing the little things that help the team win. Things like vision control, engaging, protecting the carries, etc.
