I mean Varus wasn't always a Darkin. They changed his lore not too long ago to shift him to be Darkin based. So his name wasn't chosen with the Darkin in mind at all. I believe the Aatrox voicelines are referencing fans who have brought up similar points about Varus's name. I doubt Riot will actually change his name to fit the new thematic, though.

Double A thing was a jokey joke more like a wink aht the fans who speculated so long who could be the next Darkin and what names would they have to have. That isnt mandatory for Darkin cause you have Ascended with names like Cebotaru, or Naganeka.
