Considering so many people throw out so many skin ideas and make so many custom skins, it doesn't surprise me that some of them happen to exist. Besides, those versions look nothing like the actual versions that got released.

There was a big uproar that Kindred mightvw been stolen. Riot does get ideas from things they saw online, but even so its hard to call it art theft. Most soin concepts are photoshop edits of an image, not 3d models that Riot still has to develop independently

People post their ideas so that Riot may see them and use them!

The original post that has the fan-made Kindred concept can be found on the borads (I dont know which region tho), and it's far different from the champion Kindred that we have now. Also, the person that made the concept was actually happy after a Rioter commented after his/her post that he's contacting the design team for this idea.

IKR has he seen that yt channel? seems like hundreds of good skin ideas and he found 3 that are alike

It's like... they could have just stumbled on these concepts anyway, and even if they used them for inspiration Riot still put all the resources and money into making the skins a reality

See...crap posts like this is why its so hard to get great ideas from the community implemented in the game. As soon as they do it, people like you jump out of the woodwork and call them shady, and ask where the credit and royalties are.

Because it's actually an ethics issue to not give credit to another person's concept?

It really isnt. I can sit here and vomit out 30 or 40 skin ideas right now. Doesnt mean im some kind of visual prodigy that needs to be credited for my ability to sit and think. I dont need the references so that I can get a job sitting and thinking for other companies.

If people post suggestions or make custom content, and Riot uses it.. they need to be honored, appreciative, and stfu about being credited. No one cares. You arent gonna get 15 minutes of fame. Having Riot say "this idea comes courtesy of Joe Schmoe" will not get you any more accolades than if you just made a post on the forums and said "Hey everyone! I had this idea a while back and Riot used it!"

Suggestion: Trundle needs a skin where he is in spikey armor and a long spiked club. Marauder Trundle.

Boom. Cant wait for Riot to use this so I can get credit. /sarcasm

...schoolgirl lux is using academy ahri textures...if im correct. So whose stealing who? that and rito has warned people if u post fan art to their boards or send them ideas, they have the right to use them without recognition/compensation

they have the right to use them without recognition/compensation

Recognition is the only thing I'm fighting for, owning up

Riot does nothing to lift real members of the community, these artists are good members and deserve some recognition

Koiyaki1 votes

they litterally have it in their policies they dont have to. As much as i would like them to as well by law they dont have too and fanartists should know that. and u didnt respond to the shri texture the artist 'used'

EDIT: Also...the project vi as project leona assets...

Stolen skins? If they ever used my skin idea, I'd rather pay them (by buying it) that calling it "stealing". Man there are actually so many skin ideas that are so great, that they should start "stealing" faster! I wanna see Hot-Rod Hecarim and PROJECT: Talon! (my personal favourite fan-made skin ideas)

Riot's policy is that IF you post fan content to their boards, they have the liberty to borrow them for inspiration without crediting the creator - but this is so long as the creator themselves is posting this to the boards

So you know......... the fan skins aren't really stolen and there's no dirty past And an artist doesn't own the whole skin concept and concepts similar to it just 'cause they drew a skin concept

That's actually the only issue, they don't allow the creator to get even enough recognition to use in a professional portfolio so it's legal but unethical

Well there's the part where teemo and rammus were stolen champion concepts

Just 'cause you create a concept art for a champion or a skin, doesn't mean you own that concept completely and are the 1st one who thought about that concept. Sure riot may use some concept arts to influence their skins, but why should someone get credit to their portfolio when they did nothing? Sure they can put their own concept art into the portfolio, why couldn't they? But why should some random nobody artist get credit for a riot employee's work on the skin? When it isn't even 100% confirmed that riot even saw a specific concept art and used it to make a skin

The schoolgirl lux and beemo you linked look NOTHING like the skins riot have. And both are pretty no brainer concepts. So i don't really understand the point you are trying to make with those. Sure project Vi looks 'bit similar to the the video you linked. All project skins kinda look like that, so i don't really see the point there either. The only similar thing about them is the orange colored gauntlets. And it's pretty obvious that Vi would get some glowing gauntlets for her Project skin, and it may have just been a coincidence that both are orange. Nobody knows

So, if i dew a cat girl character that had for example blue hair and posted that character somewhere. And then some random game adds a cat character with blue hair. Do i have the right to cry and complain about them ''stealing'' my idea, and should i demand to be credited for that character? Of course not. Cat girls are a very popular concept. They might not have even seen my character, so why should i be credited for their work?

"Stolen skins", dude, they invented the Project skin line themselves. Do you really want to tell me now that Riot are not allowed to add skins to a skin line they are the creators of, just because some random dude on the internet made a concept for it?

Not to mention that Riot's Project Vi and this one don't even look alike that much.

Down to the color scheme of orange laser fists

Chembaron Yamada1 votes

That she gets laser fists in the Project skin line is a given, considering how these skins utilise lasers for their weapons and her gauntlets are her only weapons.

So the only thing is the colour orange. And that is literally all these 2 skins have in common. Didn't know that it is already considered stealing just because of a same chosen colour.
