Hidden DMG abilities and Masteries

What happened to Riot saying hidden DMG abilities and Masteries needed to go?

I distinctly remember someone talking about Thunderlords being so staple for free dmg that it and all abilities that simply give free dmg, needing to be removed from the game. Along with silly Silences being phased out. Yet Meteorite magically came into existence? lol

IIRC. How is it, that we went from "Free dmg needs to disappear" to adding another form of free dmg, one that also has a small AOE tacked onto it? And we wont even talk about Aery.. That monstrosity lol

And GG on changing Thunderlords into "Electrocute". Very effective in staying true to your word that you wanted to remove it ;)
