This is our first champion release without teambuilder...

And a lot of people are frustrated with Jhin being banned, picked away, or not having the luck to secure him in blind pick. I'm also on my first tilt since the removal of teambuilder, and what I used to do when tilting was to learn a new champion by playing them repeatedly (which teambuilder was ideal for).

I think the ability to pick a champion, not just your role, was something a lot of people valued about teambuilder, and that this advantage was overlooked or undervalued in the decision to remove it. I would very much like to see it come back.

Additionally, I remember a red saying that "dynamic queue was indisputably better." I struggle to see how teambuilder was not indisputably better than blind pick. If a reason for not keeping team builder was to avoid having too many queues, why not replace blind pick with teambuilder? I'm not the first to suggest it.

EDIT: Apparently, my meaning of "This is our first champion release since teambuilder was removed" is a fine enough distinction between the actual title to generate more discussion than anything else so... that's what I meant. First since removed.

Well, I mean, all the champions released before late 2013-ish when TB debuted weren't released with TB, so, technically, you're wrong.

customs, bots. TB would have done what? 90 minute queu times?

The only thing I've found playing into bots is remotely useful for is practicing a jungle clear or champs with mechanics that are very difficult even in a vacuum, like catching draven axes (try kiting the buffs around, it's hard and great practice). They simply don't even come close enough to simulating a person to learn anything meaningful about a champion's weaknesses, and they don't make subtle enough mistakes that are worth the time to practice punishing.

Practicing in customs is a viable option if I have someone who wants to do that with me, and if I just want to practice laning. If I want to practice a jungler, or getting ganked, or teamfighting, or any of the other things you also need to be good at with a champion, and I don't have 9 friends, it's not an option. At that point it's better to just find four others to make a premade with and hit up blind pick.

Anyway, I don't see why you think teambuilder would have long queue times. What has supplanted it? Normal draft dynamic pick? Teambuilder co-existed with normal draft pick for ages with no problem. The things dynamic queue does better than teambuilder are things that would have drawn people to old normal draft pick before anyway.

False. Plenty of champions were release before Team Builder was made. Team Builder just shoved the champion release week stuff under the rug (at least for those who used TB exclusively). Now ya'll are left trying to figure out how people survived release week without it. Not that most of ya are being very creative (or tenacious) with the options available to ya but eh. (Five-man blinds, solo blind, waiting for hype to die, customs of all sorts, dominion, etc, etc). Also you only need, at the very least, three people to practice ganks (Enemy team being two and ally team being one). Four/eight being ideal, and ten is perfect. Especially if your only aim is improving your reactions to ganks, or preventing them. Teamfighting can be practiced through ARAM (especially if you don't have enough for a full custom) as that's all ARAM is. The randomness may not net you the champions you want but the aspects of teamfighting are not champion specific.

Also what he means by wait times is the popularity factor. Release week drags out all those wanting to play new champions right this very minute and with TB you would have to wait for it to find ya a spot (between captains denying/kicking) in a team. Which (as it could be said for the most popular position types) may take a while (anything between 5mins to an hour). Plus there is a blind pick dynaQ that may or may not implement TB stuff (haven't actually read into it other than it being worked on) into. The dynaQ that we got right now is the ranked/draft version (and how old draft is better than the new one is beyond me) and its rather naive to think that those who frequent normal drafts (ie most of who are looking for a semi-serious game that doesn't involve LP loss/gain but still has a system close to ranked's) wouldn't ban the new champion.

As for your reasoning against bots, eh it's true to a point but at the very least it'll let you get a feel for how the champ works, for figuring out how to CS with them, and familiarizing yourself with ranges/skillshots. Once you go PvP with them you can more accurately gauge who works best with them, what match-ups are good/bad/decent, the champion's build paths, etc. Without bots/custom before an actual match your left having to figure absolutely everything out against an enemy that won't give you the leeway to learn. Plus there is a chance you'll ruin the game for at least four people.

I had never used Team Builder. Not even once. Null.

And I'd like to try it at least once. So i hope Riot will add it again :)

The problem with teambuilder was that any imbalance in role desirability resulted in escalating queue times as the excess players piled on top of each other.

Teambuilder was just too good to be true.
