My midlander asked me to hold mid for a minute

Let me say clearly that I'm glad these anti-funneling rules are in place because that strategy was bad for the meta, and I will hold a lane to protect a tower as they are important, it just feels bad to hold a lane with them in place.

If no allied champion is in lane this shouldn't even kick in The whole reason for this was to kill off the "TAX" mentality

DuskDaUmbreon44 votes

Then they just walk out of the lane to let them funnel instead.

The whole reason had nothing to do with stopping taxing. The purpose was to stop funneling.

Ulquiorra01231 votes

This isn't exactly the case... The experience then wouldn't go over to the support making them literally useless. The reason funnelling works is because supports can work on 40% of the gold at 80% gold efficiency and keep on par with levels due to shared experience, BOTH OF THESE THINGS NEED TO TAKE PLACE FOR FUNNELING TO BE GOOD. His idea would actually be a fine way of dealing with the situation because funnel cannot abuse it due to the support needing experience.

Its alright to funnel gold into the marksman but not the jungler eh? Its alright for Marksmen to go mid/top but not the supports eh? Its alright for Marksmen to go jungle, but jungler's arent allowed to lane effectively eh? I see where this is going...

DuskDaUmbreon3 votes

Not how it works at all.

Nobody "funnels" gold into the marksman. The only time that was done was with Kai'sa mid and...was it a Taric jg? Or was it a Nunu jg? I can't remember. And Kai'sa was nerfed because of it, and doesn't really do it anymore anyways. There are instances where we have people give a lot of farm over to the marksman come mid-game, but that's not the funneling strat.

The supports that were nerfed out of mid and top were done so because they were oppressive. There's not much counterplay to a Lulu top at all. Meanwhile, the few marksmen that went mid or top were either not viable botlane at the time (See: Lucian last year, Corki, Quinn before Stormrazer let her take over the entire map), or were actually pretty shit toplaners anyways, and it was just a stupid fad that never went well (See: Vayne top last year (or was it the year before?), where she had a 53%+ winrate bot and a 48% winrate top).

The only two marksmen that have gone jungle in any significant amount in this entire season are Graves and Kindred. Graves was reworked into a jungling marksman, while Kindred was designed to be a jungler from the getgo. Sure, sometimes you see the occasional Kai'sa, but, while it can be successful if you do it right, it's not played enough to even register as happening on op.gg. The only other two jungler marksmen that I've seen are Twitch and Vayne. Vayne was because, again, she was too strong at the time anyways, and, like her toplane performance, was actually kinda abysmal. Twitch existed solely as a level 2 cheese gank (Start E>Red>Get Q>Walk behind their midlaner in stealth and hope you get a kill), and if he failed that (by their mid escaping, fending him off, or even just staying under turret so he can't walk behind them) he was useless for the next 20-30 minutes, until he finally scaled into relevancy (assuming that he didn't get the shit beat out of him by the enemy jungler). Both of them were outclassed by nearly every single other jungler in the game at the time.

Also, marksmen junglers have never been oppressive, barring when the two who are actually meant to be junglers were too strong. However, you have shit like Fiddle going into lane and using the easiest (and possibly the highest-damage) poke in the game, or you have Wukong going top and mid and adc and having a 52-55% winrate in all of the roles he plays.

The difference between all of those is that it's never done to the same extent, it never works as well, and it's honestly never as oppressive for a marksman to be in an off role.

"we" asked for it. Now we have to pay for it.

Automated Riven6 votes

Or they could have just made the changes to jungle that people wanted instead of the stupid gromp (edit I mean scuttle) change. Which was lower exp, lower gold, and lower spawns times.

Linna Excel4 votes

Right. However they decided to have more XP, Gold, and time per camp because they didn't want people powerfarming. Now riot is complaining that early lanes are decided by the jungler too much because the junglers can't farm as much early.

Automated Riven6 votes

Ok. So when the respawn timers were 50 seconds all the junglers power farmed. When the timers are 1:45 seconds junglers sit in lane for a full minute at a time and zone off opponents or repeat gank and ruin lanes.

Hmm guess we are fucked then. No possible solution except fucking jungle by adding scuttle crab changes.

.... Oh wait. Could there has possibly been a middle ground where there are still opurtunities to gank while also needing to devote more time to clearing???

Nah. Shut up riven your fucking delusional.

My problem with riot's balance team is that when they decide to overshoot their mark, they really overshoot their mark. They then wait a year before doing anything about it because the best players in the world can't adapt to changes like the rest of us can.

Spank the Fox1 votes

The thing is Riot wants junglers to actually be ganking more than farming. (Probably LCS reasons here tbh)

Regressing back to reduced spawn timers just means junglers go back to powerfarming/uninteractive PvE

Not that I agree, but that’s why they won’t reduce the timers, not because they don’t realize they can.

Automated Riven2 votes

That's probably true. However my point remains. There is a happy medium. Where farming junglers can farm and ganking junglers can gank. Probably at like 70-75 second resawn times. Which would be way better I personally think.

My issue is that when riot starts making workaround fixes (like this one as well as no fortification on just the bottom tower) then not only does it increase burden of knowledge (how are new players supposed to know these things????) But they are also counter intuitive and cause there own problems.

Riot always claimed that they didn't enforce a meta, but making specific changes to stop lane swaps in pro play was when they started going town the slippery slope of enforcing metas. Also nerfing ap kog and removing items so ap ezreal couldn't be played. (when neither one was oppressive btw)

Aww how cute, the big manchild had to use shitty operating systems and had a small harddrive that while shit now was perfectly fine back then.

18 years for a game is old, League as a game is nearing 10 yo so it's old. Just cuz you're almost dead doesn't mean everything is still young. But hey keep bragging about how you're gonna die before me you Cool rad adult. I'm so jealous i ain't old yet.

MMO's have a history that dates back to 1974, The game Adventure was released in 1975 and was based on D&D so it's likely the term was already used back then as it's most prominent use Is either Runescape or D&D. All in all it would still take until 1985 for the first commercial Online Game that supported up to 100 people and is probably the safest bet as the first MMO.

Diablo 2 was released in 2000 so it's not an old game either i guess, It's not like diablo functions like 90% of MMO's out there or anything. nope totally doesn't. As for it's M rating, shit they showed a pixelated tiddy so adult. As if anyone fuckin looks ate age ratings. I played GTA as a 12 yo, but hey that's a mature game cuz the label said so. There's nothing especially adult about diablo aside frop it's age rating that purely comes from pixelated tiddies and blood.

You don't see me walking up to my 6 yo sister with a casette asking her what it is just to start laughing at her for not knowing about some useless plastic that's so outdated it's pretty much completely gone from our society.

you cant have an MMO without the O

and the O means "online"

what my original about gold not going "gp" was pretty simple...

gold isnt GP... its gold

gp is Gangplank

u cant keep using abbrevatioins from other games those same abbrevations means something completly different in the game you are playing now

i played an mmo called "perfect world" it was proably one of the best game i had ever played.. eventaulyl the copmay ruined it.. but that's another story the point is that had a class called "blademaster" which was abbreviated "bm"

which to most people joining the game.. BM means somthing difference

CC in league means crowd control

in diablo 3 CC means crit chance.

to this day i still pronounce Shaco "shack o" and not "shake o"

because to me "shake o" is "harlequin crest" from diablo 2

i pronounce Zoe as "zoe" like "joe" or "hoe" and not "Zoey" and "joey"

because i know someone who's dog is named "zoey" and it has a "Y" and baby kangaroo's are "joeys"

and in english pronunciation. zoe doesn't have an "E" sound... the E on the end is silent, and to add it you need to add a "Y"

every game has thier own abbreviations.

if i started saying Tryndamere gets free CC with his passive.. people here are going too look and be like... "ummm no he doesn't Tryndamere only cc is on his W and only when your facing away from him"

that makes that statement WRONG,, because in LEAGUE cc does NOT mean "crit chance" it means crowd control

if u say +4 gp that DOES NOT mean + 4 gold it means +4 Gangplank

that's what my orginal post was about.

Jerry SeinfeId1 votes

you cant have an MMO without the O

and the O means "online"

The one from the 80's was online tho. The internet is just a bunch of networks connected to each other. Back then 100 people was probably the most anyone had seen. The current internet allows for much bigger playerbases combined with a much, much higher interest group.

I am fully aware what you mean, and that league uses gold. However given the context it's quite clear what they meant. You pointing that out as a goof isn't the problem.

It's the whole "i'm better than you because i'm older and played "adult" games when you were playing your kiddie MMO" elitist attitude you responded with. In the end my post was in no way about your original post.

The most prominent usage is from D&D and Runescape. While the latter is early 2000s, and the main reason most people understand it. It's also heavily incluenced by D&D, and technically even has a dice roll combat system (OSRS now). D&D has been around quite long, longer than your Diablo 2. Which really isn't that much more "adult" than any of the others.

Acting like these games aren't old is ridiculous too. To me when i think back on Runescape i don't feel like it's an old game, it still exists and looks up to date. But in the end, they are old, my own Runescape account was only recently banned at almost 10 years old. (That was when i realised how old it actually was) And i don't even play since it's start, i have played the original runescape tho. Not old school RS but actual Classic RS which is completely 2d - 3d like an old elderscrolls game and after 17 years got shut down. A 17 yo kid isn't old, but a 17 yo dog is if that comparison makes any sense.

The images in the game also show Gold pieces, we as a community just call it gold. The only reference to Gold i could find are ironically enough GP Gangplank and TwistedFate. And if they don't play those 2 champs they may very well refer to it as Gold pieces or gp for short. Like you (i, and many others) refer to shaco as shack-o.

if i started saying Tryndamere gets free CC with his passive.. people here are going too look and be like... "ummm no he doesn't Tryndamere only cc is on his W and only when your facing away from him"

There's still the fact that CC and Crit are both things a Champion actually has. Gangplank isn't something someone gets during a game.

I physically tested my jungle routes. Rushing to upgrade your jungle item was not always the fastest. Sometimes, it was even better to not start a jungle item. I used to start "blue pot" on certain junglers. Jungle has changed a ton through the years.

Elite4Runner1 votes

I would actually say that it is more common than not that most junglers will rush a different item first, or at least a different component item first. Most meta junglers build AD and most are melee champions, so Tiamat is the most actually rushed more often than the jungle item. It is cheaper, it offers AOE damage for champions that don't have it, and it is an auto attack reset, which is also very helpful for clearing. Aside from that, the most common component item rushed over the jungle item is Serrated Dirk. Actually, it is even fairly common for some players to not build anything past their starting item.

This mechanic is a really stupid way to try and force players to rush, or even complete their jungle item, .. and it doesn't even really do that.

Linna Excel1 votes

Maybe the AD jungle item should be item 3715+item 3077 or item 3706+item 3077. While that might hose a few junglers like kindred, maybe those other AD junglers could go on a tweaked version of bloodrazor.
