I started playing League when Season 7 began

Note: Just a story I wanted to share for those in Bronze. Someone who went through elohell and made an Elohaven. I hope this motivates you to climb out of Bronze or whatever elo you have.

At first I thought mid and top were my roles, but I only did decently. I also was new, naive, and easily beatable. I got flamed, people said I would never make it past Plastic V. Inevitable for a newbie.

Funny thing, I only played ranked. I felt normals was where everyone had fun where I wanted to get better with people who tried super hard. Ranked was actually worse than normals for me, but I pried through it.

My first game was with Golds if I remember correctly, and I won that game too. I was hyper but later collapsed into Bronze I. Now, hysterically, I thought Bronze I was the lowest tier and Bronze V was the highest. I wasn't thinking about leaderboards or noticed the harder promotion series in Bronze I, so I messaged a Riot moderator that there was a glitch where if you were demoted, you went to a higher division.

I feel bad for that moderator reading my message. They literally told me they're sorry for the confusion and the system was correct. It was a funny experience and all my naivety was at fault. That was great customer service.

So, I was stuck in a hole. I was stuck in Bronze V and knew nothing about League. I thought it would be easier to climb back to Bronze I but boy was I mistaken. I watched videos, I applied, built my game knowledge. Believe it or not - that only got me to Bronze III after 50 to 70 games and I was stuck in a loop. And I only played ranked mostly.

Then Discord came into existence. Discord - one of the most recent innovations that spiraled into popularity into the gaming community gave me servers to join where I could play with Golds, Platinums, Diamonds, Masters, and Challengers. I played with Diamonds and against them with some platinums and golds. I applied my knowledge from the videos and I noticed an exponential increase. I could steal their tactics, exploit their egos, and study champion statistics.

I knew a lot of champion abilities and I knew a lot about the game from this point on. I started reading on how champions work, cooldowns, powerspikes, counters, relations to other champions, and so much metadata, macromechanics, and micromechanics. This increased my game strength so much that my winrate went from a staggering 48% to a 72% as ADC.

I was a Vayne one trick pony with Jinx as a secondary option and Lucian as a third. I was on hot streak after hot streak and clutching and making comebacks you could never imagine and outplays and doing all these small things that carried my team. One time I even carried my team through pure wave management even when we were done the entire game. Winions do destroy the nexus. I got so good people thought I was eloboosting or a diamond smurf. I even got the Diamond rank in some discord servers for my skills.

I got to say - hitting Silver V isn't great. I main Vayne but I don't even have a skin for her or a skin for any other ADC I play. I also have a laggy Mac and I can't go to any other role other than ADC/support. I know I can do better. Gold V is my goal. However, looking back at my journey to my first league/elo promotion - it's amazing.

But hey - I make the haven. I'm Elohaven.

I know that feel bro. Was hard stuck in Silver, only ever wanted to reach Gold. Finally made it in after 1.5 years and a little help from my brother, then I got placed in silver this season for my placements.

I almost had a heart attack, but I kept going, quickly got back into gold.

I continued playing for a couple of months, but I'd just started my first full time job, so I gradually slowed down on my playtime. Next thing I knew I was climbing a division a week.

I got to gold 2, my pace started to even out. Failed my promos to Gold 1, got a free win, came back, won the first game, boom, G1.

Eventually reached my coveted Plat 5 promos, went WLWLL - 60LP or so. Won the next 5 in a row to come crashing into Plat.

All of this I put down to actually LISTENING to what the analysts are jabbering about in pro games. It is such great free advice, and they explain the processes most pro players do subconsciously at this point in simple, easy-to-understand ways. Then there is also great content like the Breakdown series, which goes even deeper into decision making.

I feel like watching esports has helped me a lot too! I really enjoy listening to the casters express their deep understanding of the game and explaining why the pros do what they do.

BIII to SII is where 60% of the player population lies. So I would expect that.

Afaik, the only elo I know that isn't toxic is mid-gold. P5 is nearly as toxic as Bronze up to S3.

prty amazing to visualize how bronze 5 - gold 1 is where 90% of the ranked population lies for solo
