You should add new tutorials for new players.

For real, to get the basics first.

Tutorial 1: resources, gold, how to move, how to cs and objetives.

Tutorial 2: landing skillshots and dodging skillshots.

Tutorial Phase 3: roles (ADC, MID AP, MID ASSASIN, TOP TANK, TOP BRUISER, JUGGERNAUT, JUNGLER)

Tutorial 4: items and situational builds.

Tutorial 5: team comps.

I wonder why riot leaves all of it to the internet and Youtube.

They should have more tutorials and tie it in with the level progression. Unlock a new tutorial as one levels up. People are likely to do it at least once to see what it is and because new and shiny.

  1. I do like this idea a lot, but much of that you can't really teach through bots as you would just playing normal games and learning that on your own. They teach you the very basics of the game (like the first tutorial you mentioned), though a few more tips for new players would be pretty good regardless.

  2. Skillshots and dodging them simply take practice and aren't really teachable. Sure you could introduce the idea by forcing new players to play champions with those skillshots, but the rest just has to be learned on your own. Though the idea sounds nice, I can't really think of a way that they could teach aiming and dodging those abilities effectively or without it being confusing. They could maybe add a tooltip to the beginners game and have you face a champion with a skillshot to give you an immediate feel for it, but that's as far as i'd put it.

  3. The roles part, though would be nice, is also a little nonconstructive when it comes to the game. Sure, the meta does exist, but it would also be telling players that a specific champion (let's say Graves) only belongs in one role (botlane adc) just because he's a marksmen, when he does very well toplane as well as being one of the top junglers atm. Not saying that the meta is a bad thing (there's a reason as to why it exists), but the meta changes so often that trying to stick that in a tutorial could confuse new players once it changes. Though I do agree that touching up on what they are in the first place would be very solid, and worth a special kind of tutorial on it's own.

  4. I do agree that having a small tutorial about item builds would be very helpful, even to experienced players. It could take place on the howling abyss map like the initial tutorial did, and they can pick several really good champions (one for each role) for you to practice on and get the hang of. It would have to be updated every now and then though, due to meta-shifts as well as item shifts that happen.

  5. As for the last... yes, yes, and yes, how I wish that could work. That would be fantastic for most players even now, experienced or no. The only issue would be just how flexible comps could be and how they could work. Sad to say, I don't think it would be possible to teach that. Again, you'd have to know each champions abilities, and not just the basis of the character to know how well a team comp could work out. I overall like your list, and I feel that 2 AND 4 could warrant integration in their current tutorials.
