A Query on Champion Reworks/VGUs
Hey all,
I've noticed that a lot of the time, there's always someone/people who miss the old versions of champs regardless of how well they turn out in the rework or update department. A common complaint is "Just make a new champion and leave <x> as is", which kind of can't happen due to theme overlap, mechanics, etc.
So instead, I want to ask anyone who might miss an old champ: Where would you draw the line at a pre-rework champ being in the game. For this, I'm going to list a handful of options that could realistically be considered, if Riot were to take this approach. As an aside, this assumes Riot stops "development" on this champion and they are left in the game and unchanged from their last, pre-VGU patch:
- 1.) Champion exists in the game but cannot be picked in ranked. Does not get balance updates. (Pickable in norms, arams, private games)
- 2.) Champion exists in the game but cannot be picked in ranked or ARAMs. (No balance, Norms/Private is ok)
- 3.) Champion exists in the game but can only be picked in private games.
- 4.) "I refuse to have this champion share a spot with their rework." (IE: Sion pre-VGU or Sion VGU, not both).
- 5.) None of the above. (Try to avoid the "No reworks" option. Give me an example of a compromise or middle ground you'd be ok with.)
If you'd like, comment why. For the final option you could suggest stuff like "Pre-VGU Champion has major lore changes/entire theme changes" or something similar. Curious to see the communities thoughts on this.
