Again, please riot change or revamp how the grading system works

I heard that it depends on the overall performance of how the players do with a certain chapmion but this doesn't make any sense at all, i've seen lucians do a hell of a lot better and not even get an S- , Plus our mastery grading of a champion shouldn't depend on how others do but should depend on our own performance so please set up a system were it encourages the player to play better, not just play for a score or compete with people smurfing.

**My suggestion: ** Make the mastery separated from getting an S grading ( because that's used for the hextech chest) so instead a simple quest to move on in mastery, there's this game called batteborn that to pretty much master the hero you have to beat challenges and they're things like killing 50 enemies while in mid air, or doing like 1million damage over all with the ult. In leagues case the masteries have a "class" so a simple quest with the classes could work. Example Assasins should be like get 150 kills with this champion to advance to the next stage. A Tank would be like recieve a certain amount of damage, Junglers would be like get like 50 dragons and 10 barons and a certain amount of gold. And stuff like this just simple quest i'm not saying it's something easier to do or that it can be done right away but! it would be nice to know at least that the team has it's foresight on improving this potential system. It's nice having a way to progress a champion but not when it feels random or half to do with the player.

You clearly are not looking at your own screenshot. Look at Lucians build and look at Jannas.

Lucian was not the adc...he was support....mostlikely qued up as support.

janna built for adc so she mostlikely qued for adc role.

Support used a adc and adc used a support..

So lucian was not graded against other Lucian adcs but against other Lucian supports....and opposite for Janna. It is a very easy way to get a S.

I had a Master Yi play adc in a game i was support because he was trying to do the same thing....get a Yi adc grade.

its the flaw in the system.

doesn't that even prove my point even more ? that the system needs to be changed or revamp to be better? My main concern is that it pins you agaisn't how other players do rather than your own performance. The lucian and janna were not doing that well but team fights got them there because me ( ww ) and wukong were fed and we could just faceroll into their team

Oh yes i know I agree it needs tweaked. But i was just explaining to you why he got the S. If he was qued for adc and got those stats he would not of got the S.

There is also a flaw in the fact that the system doesnt account for the length of the game. I had a game earlier wwhere the other team surrendered at 20....but in that 20 min as a Voli support i was 3-1-6 with 2 dragons and 2 towers taken.

I just need 1 more S for level 7 voli and i was sure i would get it that game but because the other team surrendered i did not get done what i needed to even though i was having a great game.

I'm about to just exploit the supporting mechanics then :/

Yes and no. It's not so much what was queued for, but how you built. That's an AP Lucian. Compared to other AP Lucians, he's done far better than most. That's what it's grading.

No its not. Where do you get your info from? Did you even read the information that was released when the grade system came out?

it clearly stats that champs are graded different off different roles. And it even used for a example that a Mid Lux is graded totally different from a Support Lux. Your build has nothing to do with it.

you are graded for your champ, in the rle that you qued for and your performance against others in your region on how they did with the same champ in that same role.

Im looking for the post they made but I dont ever remember reading that build has anything to do with grade.

They take into account role and only grade you against others playing the same champ in the same role, but they figure out your role independently of the role you queued up for. Otherwise a duo bot could just have the adc queue for support and the support queue for adc, and the 'support' proceed to build ad and take all the cs, while the 'adc' built utility and generally did support-y things which would be prone to give at least one of them a relatively easy S if it worked. (But, it doesn't, as riot discussed in the podcast that explains these things and how they're pretty proud of it's ability to figure out roles correctly, even if it's not what you queued as and you did lane swap shenanigans or similar.)

That said, role is not the same as your build, so lucian would have been compared to all other lucian supports (and janna compared to all other janna ADC's), and he just happened to be a support building AP (which is not terribly uncommon). AD luc mid and AP luc mid are graded the same, and similarly AD luc sup and AP luc sup and supporty utility item luc sup are all graded the same as well, it's just you have to actually produce results better than others in that champ/role combo (and results are hard to get when you're doing off-meta stuff, since there tends to be a reason it's off-meta).

Lucian is one of a handful of champs that offer literally no support utility through his kit (it's all damage and mobility for him) so building support-y is probably meh, AD luc support is super item reliant so probably not very effective on a supports budget, while AP luc is also somewhat gated by items, it's probably a bit more effective than the AD version, so I suppose I agree with how they went about their 'supporting'.

Screenshot is from a normal game, not ranked. So the Lucian wasn't queued as anything specifically, but is still getting a grade at the end based on the role he played, where the game figured out what role that probably was based on the build used.

And I'm talking very high level build, not specific items.

It doesnt have to be a ranked game to be a role qued game. You can play a normal draft game and you will hav to que for a specific role. normal Blind you do not. SO we do not know if this normal game was draft or blind but with the stats he had and got a S its a pretty safe bet he was in a normal draft game and qued for support and played a adc. Im even willing to bet he was in a duo with the Janna..........................and after looking at their histories im right....they duoed a few times or at least was on same team multiple times in a row.
