Why did I not get a free win in my promos? WTF?

So, I was in my promos to Platinum earlier today, and lost them. I am once again in my promos now, but did not get a free win. I thought I always got a free win if I failed my promos and got back into them without being demoted a division. I even got 2 free wins during my Gold promos, so...what gives? Did Riot update it this season or something? Is it because I reached promos again the same day that I lost them? I'm seriously confused.
