Ranged

Passive - Blind Luck: Twisted Fate has an area just outside of his attack range, clicking this area will cause Twisted Fate to throw a skill shot at that target location, dealing damage to the first enemy in it's path. These skill shots are treated as basic attacks. The cooldown of this passive is based on Twisted Fate's attack speed.

Q - Stacking the Deck - First Cast: Twisted Fate stops for a moment and shoots the deck of cards from one hand to the other. Twisted Fate will then have his deck Stacked, once for every use of this ability, up to 4 times.

  • Second Cast: Twisted Fate will throw cards out in a cone in a target direction, dealing magic damage to all enemies hit. The size of the cone is determined by the amount of time he had to Stack his deck.

W - Pick a Card: Twisted Fate will randomly draw 1 of 5 cards from the top of his deck, amplifying his next basic attack, consuming the stacks of Stacked Deck. Stacking the Deck will cause the Joker not to be drawn. having 4 stacks will always draw the Ace.

  • The Joker: Deal no bonus damage and reveals the attack target.

  • Jack: Deals twice the bonus magic damage in an area around the attack target.

  • Queen: Deal magic damage and restore double the mana cost of this ability, and reduce the cooldown of this ability be half.

  • King: Deal magic damage and stun the attack target.

  • Ace: Deals twice the bonus magic damage in an area around the attack target, stun all enemies hit, refund double the mana of this ability and reveal every enemy hit.

E - Fate's Chosen - Passive: Twisted Fate's basic attacks deal a small amount of bonus magic damage. Every fourth attack deals even more bonus magic damage.

  • Sleight of Hand: For the next several seconds, Twisted Fate will stuff cards up his sleeve with each basic attack and cast of Stacking the Deck. After the several seconds, or once recasted, Twisted Fate will unleash a flurry of cards on his next attack target, up to 5. The flurried cards will deal 30% the damage of Twisted Fate's basic attacks, but otherwise behave as normal attacks.

R - Destiny Awaits - First Cast: Reveal a large area around Twisted Fate, highlighting enemy champions.

  • Destined Path: Twisted Fate throws his cards in a lightning fast skill shot that deals a large amount of magic damage to the first enemy champion hit. Twisted Fate will then be able to teleport to a target area around that enemy champion.

As always with this kind of rework: why?

Change for the sake of change isn't good. If you rework a champion, the end result must be far better than the previous version, and for that, it's better to clearly identify and state issues with the previous versions and goals for your rework.

The current Twisted Fate has a passive that does nothing productive, outside of getting a slight edge on items in the early game, and he has an active ability that is completely passive and only gives him attack speed and damage on every fourth auto attack.

My idea behind reworking TF was to give him some extra game play, a passive that had actually impact and a fourth active ability.

Twisted Fate is a gambler, who cheats, a lot. So I gave him abilities that are about cheating by stacking the deck and frantically stuffing cards up his sleeves. That is the twisted fate I want to play, a no good cheat who always comes out on top, provided he have time to set up his plays.

No, it wasn't. We didn't remove the post. Champ rework concepts like this belong in Gameplay as they're seen as gameplay feedback. Concepts & Creations is for fan-created things like new champs, skins, etc.

hmm thats odd. he posted it before but its gone now. Along with all the comments

Reworks belong in gameplay. New concepts belong in concepts and creations.

Overall I like the idea of the new rework! Although I don't think TF needs a rework right now, you definitely put some good thought in (although his Ace card definitely needs to be toned down).

It was deleted because I had the GALL to suggest TF get some advancement in his story, and people didn't like that, so I removed anything that suggested TF had character development and put it back.

Are you talking about making him blind?

We already have a blind champion and a subterranean champion with the accompanying pseudo-blindness, why would we need another one?

SSmotzer2 votes

Well, Lee Sin's blindness is self imposed, and it has no relevance to his gameplay.

The phrase Blind Luck was meant to be taken literally, as TF literally blindly fired skill shots into the Fog of War.

Ok welp the old post was gone so i couldnt respond to your reply so here we go

(paraphrasing) "TFs kit is outdated and needs a rework"

Eh.... not really. Its actually a very unique kit relying mostly on being a utility mage instead of a syndra type 1 shot LULULULULULULULULULULUL champion. maybe Im biased because i LOVE TFs kit. When i get an itch to play something mid most of the time its an itch to play TF.

This rework just doesnt embody TF. Its a move away from the Utility mage and more towards the standard mage that we see today. Also having reduced visual range will fuck him. You see unless you give him a bunch of damage and make him absolutely broken in the hands of a good player, he will have to be an even BIGGER beta in lane than he already is. This is due to the whole foot step thing actually being pretty unreliable in a laning situation. Movement is too erratic and unpredictably to actually make use of the footsteps. Not to mention CSing will actually be a bitch.

Since he wont be able to see champs he wont be able to see animations. Wanted to know when Katarina is throwing a dagger? too bad. Wanted to dodge that syndra ball that she sent flying at you? too bad. In the end the reduced range just absolutely fucks him. Lets not forget the fact that having channeling damage is pretty bad against many of the mid laners today who have ways to just knock you out of it and ruin the channel. And since most of his damage is on channeling skills..... welp... he is fucked against a syndra. Also guess who is pretty popular and would shit on this TF? Ahri. good luck keeping track of her as she dashes around you.

Play a few games of AP reksai mid and never come unburrowed. Thats what this will feel like. Its gonna be really annoying to play and unless he is unbelievably overpowered in numbers terms he wont be played. And i can assure you most of the TF mains will drop the champ.

SSmotzer1 votes

He can still see within his attack range, otherwise he would have no basic attack, and he can still place the free, recharging wards in his lane to get some extra sight.

Also, what utility does TF bring to the table? A stun and vision? This kit also has that, but they deal way more damage.

Sounds like a serious balance issue for his w but the rest sounds neat

SSmotzer1 votes

Yeah, I'm sure it'd be a thing where the Ace is always like a 5% chance, unless you have all the stacks, and of course pulling cards without stacking the deck can end in a critical fail with the Joker.

l Dárius l4 votes

No it sounds like a mess because gold card is the only one you want and the random aspect. Random isnt good for this game since its suppose to be a show of skill. No one likes losing to someone who got lucky and no one like losing because they got unlucky when its about skill.

And since your new gold card is the best for almost everything (lets be real mana is hardly an issue anymore) you would just sit back in safety and stack 4 cards then run back in and ace card all in.

Old tf was one of the best champs in the game because his gold card was just a red card with more damage and aoe stun. Everytime you picked a card you wanted gold because it was the best in every way with no draw back.

Its a neat idea but the random needs to be gotten rid of or all the cards need to have equal power in all situations because it screams unhealthy

SSmotzer1 votes

Yeah, but you could say the same thing about Crit chance. Start a game, go to lane a lose to a guy who got lucky because he managed to crit 3 times with a 10% crit chance. Besides, shouldn't the champion who's entire motif is gambling, have at least 1 chance based ability? Of course with this kit he can cheat and always get the best possible outcome, provided he stack the deck before hand.

I knew youd bring up crit chance when i realized i forgot to mention it. Crit chance is not healthy either and riot knows this. Riot also knows they cant just do away with crit chance because it will basically mean remaking the game to fix the mess left behind when they remove it

Think about champs with crit scalings, champs building crit because raw ad leaves there attack speed to low to kill anything, and there abilities have bad ratios and increasing them wont help The obvious thing to do is add items that give ad AND attack speed.

No. Look at the new bork. 45 ad and 25% attack speed, 15% lifesteal and 8% current hp on hit. This gives you autos that hit hard and fast enougb to warrant this a good first buy on almost every adc right now.

Its broken and doesnt work because crit champs will by it first item and lose that bad earlygame that comes with champs that need reliable damage on autos as well as attack speed.

If riot wanted to remove crit it would meam making certain items that are melee and ranged specific that are only able to be build on those champs and riot doesnt want to do that because it makes champ builds to specific and it would take a lot of time and money.

They would have to rework all champs with kits centered around rgn crit (that does not mean champs with 100% gauranteed crits in certain situations) and fix all crit scalings (jhin, cait)

They would have to change the tankiness of pretty much every champ to match how they changed the way adcs do damage, as well as redo tower health to make upfor the fact that ADCS have more ad and roughly the same attack speed. (I think only jhins 4th shot can crit towers)

This is all just because of the adcs mind you. Think about what needs to happen to the early and mid game of tanky champs now that they die faster there and still die just as quick lategame? Because the adcs will have more raw ad at each point of the game.

TLDR Crit chance may be unhealthy for its randomness but it is a lot better for riot to balance now than remove and go throuh hell to replace it with a MAYBE better alternative

Absolutely phenomenal. my only issue is with ACE. I like the idea of it being his best card but i don't like the idea of it being everything all together. It turns ACE from being the best card to making every other card a bad card.

otherwise, absolutely awesome and i would not be mad if this went live.

SSmotzer1 votes

Yeah, but the problem with the ace is, the only way to make sure you get it is to use your Q 4 times. Otherwise you might not deal any damage at all.

I guess you could call the ability.... a gamble?

yes , that's fine, but the card being "literally every cards effect in one" is the part i don't like and feel is problematic. I think it is a great idea and perfectly fine to make it incontestably his best card, but making it every effect in one kinda invalidates the rest of the deck i feel.

Current;y, his Gold card fills the role of "best card" as it provides on hit stun, but it not only provides lower damage but his Blue cards still have reasons to be taken over the gold card, such as mana sustain and AoE and a slow with his Red card.

The Passive looks interesting.

Stacking Deck is a neat mechanic, you prepare your cards then enchant your Q to make a massive volley of cards. Though, I like his current Q, and is an Unique ability in this game ( a skillshot spread in 3 directions), which made Twisted Fate players have some tricks in their sleeves. So maybe Stacking Deck just increases the Range and Damage of his cards?

I tell you from the start that I dislike RNG, so I totally disagree with your concept of randomly picked card. Choosing the right Card in the right situation is a major part of his character, as he adapts to every situation he faces, not just pray he got the right card. Also, the Ace is broken and the Joker is just a bad joke, just an addition to make the champion worse.

I personally would keep his old W, but he Stacks his deck while Picking his Card. When having 4 stacks, the damage of his Picked Cards doubles.

The E Active is really cool, but I have a question: Does it take into account On-Hit effects when you mention % of Twisted Fate's Auto-Attacks? Or you wanted to say Attack Damage? I ask because it would be interesting if he had in-kit synergy with Nashor's Tooth.

The Ultimate sounds cool, but I'm not really sure if I want to trade an escape tool or a splitpushing maneuver. Twisted Fate is well-known for smashing Objectives and being Slippery, like he cheated a Poker Game and run away before anyone realised. Also, I prefer to see my opponents, and my opponents to see that I can see them. After all, they must know Destiny will catch them.

In conclusion, I find Stacking Deck an amazing idea, the E active is an interesting way to make it more active. The Blind Luck Passive seems too similar to Ezreal's Q (both of them being longer range skillshots that apply on-hit effects). His current W and R are his key "Get Out of Jail" cards, and I wouldn't change them too much.

Q: is the cone the same type as the current one? how would you stack the deck multiple times? W:I like this nice way to reward planning and introduce some randomness to the gambler. E: shouldn't it be sleight of hand? does it have a animation for the opponents to see he's charging it up? R: i still like the old version better.

SSmotzer1 votes

Q: It's more of a traditional cone of damage, but it's width can very. I'm not sure if it should be how many stacks you have, or how long you've had to channel the first part of the Q, but ether way, you get the stacks by using the Q, and the W destroys the stacks.

R: Yeah, but I think there should still be some skill to it.
