"Riot makes the game not strategic and shit"

I don't buy it for even a nanosecond. In reality, people just love to 1-trick (guilty here) and not adapt their play style.

So when something comes up and says "Irelia counter-pick me Irelia", Poppy they won't do it Kled.

If something comes up and says "Zoe counter-build me Zoe", item 3102 they item 3222 won't summoner 1 do item 3140 it item 3814 .

They get ran over.

They get mad and blame Riot for making the game worse on the boards.

Riot then manually goes in and nerfs champs into the ground while their counters still exist.

Boards go on about the next thing. If the previous thing was Yasuo, Zed, or now Akali, the boards go onto the next thing while still complaining about the previous thing.

Somehow it's Riot's fault for dumbing down the game.

It’s cause silver players pat each other on the back on the boards.

And if you ever mention: “hey bro, you’re a silver 4 Lux main - you thinking Zed is OP isn’t really that valid when he kind of counters you - and you probably have no clue how to play around cooldowns, range advantage, or powrspikes” you’ll get downvoted by the silver squad. When every high elo player agrees that Zed is at best okay.

I agree with the opening statement, but not for the reasons you list. First off, it's fine to have a champ counter another one, but that doesn't mean you should ONLY be able to have a decent laning phase or game against a champ if you get a counter pick. Sometimes you have to blind pick - especially outside of pro play. So for instance if I could play lux, miss half my abilities, and land ult to still guaranteed delete any squishy champ from full hp... then my only counter is kayle for squishy champs or zilean. If you had to blind pick and grabbed zed, syndra, etc. and it didn't matter how much better you played the trades than me... I could 1-shot you from full hp with just my r even while behind then my champ is not well balanced and/or designed. Obviously that's a fictional scenario with lux... but actual gameplay has seen this TYPE of scenario happen numerous times.

And while itemization decisions can help... some things again are just too broken with too much damage that better itemization choices leave you - dead (possibly with no counterplay), rather than REALLY REALLY dead.

You forgot the fact that sometimes is just not fun playing a particular way. For example, most mages vs zed HAVE to rush zhonyas (provided zed is at least their level). Sure if they play it correct and whatnot they will survive and eventually outscale him (doubtful BUT lets just say). Now here comes the important question, am i having fun, playing TOTALLY defensive while having low opportunities to even interact with the rift.

Now i dont know about you, but most people dont like it. Which is why playing from behind feels shitty. Not only you have to play it perfectly (or close to it) because the enemies will most likely kill you with ease but you are also on timer since turrets scale extremely bad. Its the part of the game where it starts feeling more of a chore instead of a game.

Also quick note about irelia's and zoe's situation, both suffer from the same syndrome. You will be fine as long as you avoid their e. However if you do get hit, you lose a big portion of your hp without much retaliation (extremely true for zoe).

I mean, it's the same as Zed building Drinker...but better since you just nullify a whole move.

I build defenses even when I'm ahead, honestly. How ahead may change WHEN, but I always do.

So by that logic Lux is unfun to play against?

No its not actually. A mage will sacrifice more dmg while build zhonyas than a zed that builds hex. Unfortunately i lack statistics and the such to back it up, so im using my experience.

Em cool.

Nope. While their format seems similar (one cc and you eat their whole kit) there are some key differences.

Lux's snare is weaker than zoe's e (cc wise). Zoe is surprisingly slippery. Even if you do attempt to avoid her q by getting minions between you and her, she has enough time to throw her q from another angle. Even if you do somehow completely avoid her q while being asleep she will just aa dealing you a lot of dmg (compared to how easy it is). Rng. She can steal summs. Her e can also work as a zoning tool. When she engages its difficult to punish her (since her r will always send her back).

And?

You're building these items for defense. We aren't worried about the damage. We're worried about the utility to survive burst, and outright nullifying ults is way more effective than a single-type shield.

A Zhonya's nullifies a Fizz ult, a Veigar ult, a Zed ult, and a Riven ult. Maw doesn't even nullify the things it works against, so it can be out-bursted anyway. If Maw gives a little more gold value on offense for AD, why are you complaining when you out-right void attacks? Not to mention it synergizes perfectly with Banshee's...which ALSO voids attacks.

What the hell does ANY of that have to do with the price of tea in China?

The exact same way you deal with Lux is the exact same way you deal with Zoe, save few minor differences.

  • Gap close
  • Buy MR
  • Dodge the cc
  • Cleanse the cc if you didn't dodge it

"But Zoe can do it through a wa-"

Please spare me with the excess bullshit as if Lux's Q just magically can't go through a wall anymore.

Here's the thing. The champs that buy these items (zhonyas and hex) are, well DMG DEALERS. By the end of the day they are bought because they also provide dmg. Also, this god awful item hereitem 3157 has shitty stats and a decent active but you have to finish it first, unlike the item 3155 line. Which is bs.

A Zhonya's nullifies a Fizz ult, a Veigar ult, a Zed ult, and a Riven ult

On the flip side, now veig and fizz dont need their ulti to kill you because you have no mr and the active has a long cd. Riven doesnt need her ulti to kill you.

Maw doesn't even nullify the things it works against, so it can be out-bursted anyway

I cant speak for maw, but hex does an extremely good at lowering magic dmg during laning phase (unlike seekers). So yeah bs.

Not to mention it synergizes perfectly with Banshee's...which ALSO voids attacks.

1st of all, banshee's blocks one single instance of dmg. 2nd of all, if you buy both items then you are completely screwed by the lack of mana and ap. Both items give low ap for a midlaner.

save few minor differences

These differences arent minor because of how important they are.

Gap close

And getted drowsed. And then fall asleep.

Buy MR

True dmg.

Dodge the cc

All she has to do is land a single e and you will go to the fountain one way or another.

Cleanse the cc if you didn't dodge it

Cleanses has a long cd compared to her e. And mages cant go for qss.

Please spare me with the excess bullshit as if Lux's Q just magically can't go through a wall anymore.

I wouldnt talk about it but since you mentioned it, lux's q doesnt gain an increase in range when it goes into walls.

Aight, look, if you want to keep explaining random filler back to me, then by all means. All you've done is show a SEVERE lack of understanding of the game you're playing and I don't want to blow a fuse or get banned trying to argue past your defiant attitude. If you want me to clarify or explain anything, let me know. Otherwise, I have to cut this off here as respectfully as possible.

And who do you think encourages the one tricking? Yeah, no shit. If Riot wanted to discourage it, they'd stop buffing OP characters and stop nerfing UP characters and actually balance properly for once. But they've been doing that all year, so yes, it is their fault, even if only partially.

chipndip11 votes

...just counter-pick/build the stronger characters? Balance in this game flows. There's gonna be a time where some champs that WERE top tier aren't gonna be top tier, like Janna or something.

If you REALLY care about the strategic parts of the game, that is. Not saying op shit can't be nerfed, but you guys overdo it a lot and that's my issue.
