Good luck to all the Akali mains :D

The most complicated kit in the game being released on an assassin = 100% pick/ban or completely dead pick depending on nerfs and buffs. Sorry but you guys wont ever be able to play the champion regardless of numbers, its either gonna be too strong or too weak xDDDDD

As a side note Rito, do not rework Nunu, I do not want him to be this complicated and end up in the same pick/ban or dead state...

Complexity is certainly difficult, but that complexity raises the mastery bar for a champ and gives new goals and challenges to overcome :D. Its exactly why games get harder after the tutorial :).

Would you say the new Akali has a similar skill ceiling to Zed, or maybe higher?

Any idea on if Akali is keeping her "so many noobs, will matchmaking ever find true balance?" voiceline?

I've made a post asking, but no response thus far "not that its been a long time yet, but I can hope"

NO what it does is gives Smurfs more ways to ruin <Gold Ranked games.

You guys seem to know how to ruin the game in JUST the right ways. Its astounding.

Its the same as this Deam Team

Professionals playing vs none Professionals. The Gold was a joke.

Smurfing is the same thing. Small players making themselves feel big.

What does Akali have to do with any of this?

Ulquiorra01239 votes

Complexity is fine, if it is possible to balance - See Azir for an example. Azir has a kit that isn't overcomplicated to the point of inability to balance, however he is tiptoeing the line. This new kit coming to Akali, its way over that line of complexity. I am fine with the mastery bar for a champion being high, but when the kit demands low numbers because you have so much ability to outplay with little opportunity for counterplay - this becomes a problem. Her rework kit already has insane numbers as shown, and we know PBE won't change that at all. So they are releasing an assassin with the ability to outplay any champion in the game, with overtuned numbers.

And their response to her 100% pick/ban state will be to gut her into the ground or just straight up revert the rework. I get that you work for Riot so you just have to support their decisions, but there are clear issues with the kit, both you and I know it.

Oleandervine9 votes

Azir is a HORRIBLE example. His kit is literally the poster child for being overly complicated to the point where they couldn't balance it because of the sheer amount of things contributing to how powerful it was. He was relegated to the gutters for years after his launch because of this.

Ulquiorra01231 votes

A company that doesn't know how to soft touch something =/= a champion being over complicated to the point of inability to balance. They could balance him if they actually playtested the balances they were going to put out and make adjustments before it hits live. But they don't. This is why in my reply to the rioter I did say that this has insane numbers but they won't be changed before hitting live, and then she will get hard gutted or straight up reverted as an immediate response.

I do believe Azir has a set of numbers that would make him good but not overbearing, its a shame it isn't my job to adjust the numbers.

honestly, her kit does not look that complicated at all.

Fine inputs, clear rules and effects, i don't see the problem. I agree it has some intricacies, like every her ability marking a target with the circle ( which has a CD aniway ) but otherwise it's quite simple. They just offer you many different choices and you have to pick one.

Her Q is an aoe and is useful to proc the ring effect at distance. It has different properties like waveclear and hp recover but those are bundled up in the effect itself. Her W is basically her old one, with some under-the hood changes. Her E is probably the most complex of the 3 but it's quite simple to make choices around - either hit somebody with the skillshot, proc the ring and dash at them or dash to them, hit them and withdraw to the smokescreen. Her ulti allows her to break the mold a little by proccing more easily rings and giving her an execute.

mechanically, they are simple. Combined they intersect very nice and clean.

Totally different thing from other champions like Camille or Aatrox, so to say, which have mich more undelying effects and timers that feel more enstranged to control. Or Irelia, that i had to read 3 times to understand how it was going on.

Ulquiorra01231 votes

I don't actually know how to respond to something like this. I guess we just disagree on what is considered complex, and I can tell by the fact you had to read Irelia 3 times to understand but this new kit looks simple to you...

Decrit1 votes

probably because i am not a native speaker, and i could not understand well the conditions which allowed for a dash reset xP

But compared to Akali Irelia's has a lot of inner mechanics that work to make an input, where Akali instead gets decisions and options that are pretty much clear.

She has a passive that stacks up with different stuff, increases in power not linearly with its stacks and gets a different amount of stacks based on who and how many enemies are hit by her abilities, plus deals more damage to shields but only when said 6 second stacks hold up and only when said stacks are 4.

Plus her Duet ( E) adds a mark that is consumed when dashed to but also has to be reactivated to do an aoe stun that else is activated on her. I am not sure if said stun procs the mark that allows her to refresh her dash.

I mean, in the end the execution is pretty clear, but if you look at the inner workings it's all mad eup of marks, exceptions, resets, stacks and so on. Not an effect is a clear one!

Also, she has stuff that is not much intuitive, and while that does not make her complex it does not help at all to understand her. I still don't know the uses of her W, and why they gave her a mark reset on a skill that can be used to engage with a stun. I actually dom't get at all why they gave her a mark reset that works like old Fiora's Q.

Akali instead has skills that work in a simple way, but that have dynamics that interact with each other. Probably the most comples of her kit is the E, that has an exception ( can hit a temporary cloud of smoke ) and a mark ( that however is single targeted and very bief).

Azir's kit is complicated? in what way?

Yes he requires some mechanical dexterity because some of his combos require you to be in-animation while you are casting the next step,

but is that complicated? or just difficult?

Ulquiorra01231 votes

Compare Azir to most of the champion pool, he is far beyond the average line of complexity if you consider how he is played at the top tier of play. Akali, the new kit will be similar. There is alot you can do in any given situation, very similar to yasuo, riven, azir, ryze (late game). This is what I personally consider complexity. Difficulty also naturally comes with a complex kit.

I see no complexity added to her kit just the removal of counterplay

New heal can be done at greater range which doesn't offer complexity to her sustain it removes counterplay for many melee champs, which reduces complexity based on Matchup

New Shroud giving untargetability again same thing.

New E/R provides an extra escape from many champ. Same thing.

As long as, when mastered, she can not be stronger than the simpler champions, we can agree.

This is an incredibly true, simple, and insightful statement. - cue applause here-. The intent is to not make an inherently overpowered champ in relation to the broad meta (at least I assume this is the case, and have seen that confirmed many times). Rather we design to open up new forms of play and play styles for people to master. Normally this involves pay a cost (time investment) for a reward (greater power and mastery of a champion). Its not the champ themselves, but how you use 'em (looks at good kalista players)

Sydney262 votes

after seeing the skills i am 100% sure that 90% of all champs can not deal with her if the shroud stays the way it is ...

stupid design and as usual an overloaded kit ... maybe u should go back to the roots ... if i need 5 mins to read teh passive and the skills its a bad design

Selegun2 votes

Could you go into a bit more detail as to why they can't deal with her? Aside from impeading marksman attacks I don't see how it's much different than her old shroud besides the shape and the ability to block turret vision.

Aptest1 votes

Let me re-iterate: greater power can not be a reward for mastery of a champion.

one reason being that this creates "high elo" and "low elo" champions with both side of the skill divide having a large part of the roster blocked to them.

I doubt New Nunu (Nu3) will be all that complicated. I have faith in Riot.

5050BS5 votes

Nu3: Consume: If you consume a Ranged Minion at less then 45% hps you gain .5 AP to your next Snowball and its range is extended 1.5 teemos If you. If greater then 45% but less then 78% you gain .1 AP on your next snowball and its range is extended 2.1 teemos

If you consume a Melee minion that has not attacked a champion Nu3 gains +12% movement speed for 1.67s and his Snowball CD is lowered by .18s. If has attacked a champion then he regains 15 + 5% missing HPs and Snowball CD is lowered by .5s

If Nu3 consumes a Jungle Monster that spawned in the last 37s, Nu3 Gains +2.9% bonus exp for 5s.

If Nu3 consumes The big Rapter before any of the little rapters are dead Nu3 gains a special dance that Nu3 will perform the next time he Ult kills a Champion.

exactly. Thhey kept warwcik not as much complicated too. And did a pretty good job on him.

Just get rid of this boing attackspeedbuff as they did with Warwicks and Gps rework. While it kinda makes sense to support as a support jungler and adcs love as, there should be better ways to do so. Especialy if you are a main jungler who counterjungles. Having a earlygame advantage and giving as that is lategame really strong but early not really something is kinda twisted.

if anything "Bloodboil" might get shifted to his passive or something.

Her kit, I believe, isn't all that terribly complicated. Practice makes perfect is more the case here. I still would like her passive to be able to proc on large jungle monsters, that would make her more fun in the jungle. [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]
