So the new Phantom Dancer on the PBE gives a Shield from burst damage

Why?

Hasn’t giving ADCs anti burst tools led them to be much stronger against not only their intended predators (Assassins) but also against everyone else? Isn’t this one of the reasons Riot made steraks Melee only?

I've been thinking about the crit changes a lot today, and my conclusion is that they are taking power out of marksmen late game to let them have tools like this.

If you want 100% crit on full build, it takes 4 items. You only get one more, and you have to choose whether that's going to be lifesteal, armor pen, or a defensive item. Therefore, I think marksmen are not going to have 100% crit in many games, even when they go late. In particularly rough games, they might even have to settle for 50% crit until very late.

In exchange, since their offense is overall down, they're gonna need some help staying alive a bit longer. At least, that's the theory.

I've not been a fan of any of the PD changes myself. It feels like they're taking an item with a solid niche and shitting all over it in favor of a lifeline shield that would feel 'more satisfying to build'.

To my understanding, though, lifeline on Phantom Dancer is a change that Riot's already solidified their thoughts on, and there's not anything that can be said to change their minds on it. It sucks, because it was a favorite of mine on seven of the ten crit champions I play with crit builds because of the Lament passive.

I think their reasoning for that was outliers like kog'maw using the steraks his atk spd steroid plus the extra health from it gave him a decent amount of tankiness, and the game's damage rating is much higher than it was then so its probably needed, even tho most youtubers ive seen thinks it will suck.
