Shields and Grevious Wounds.
I get that Meddler is a hardstuck gold support main, but why don't Grevious wounds affect shields?
This isn't just a pointing out a single support either, with Janna, Karma, and Lulu providing massive shields for their targets without any real form of counterplay, but also tanks with the new locket and relic shield.
Instant cast shield that absorbs 400 damage is no different than a Soraka instant cast healing their target for 400 damage, or Darius swinging his axe and healing for 400.
Now of course we will hear the supports crying "But the health doesn't stay". That's true. You do lose the shield after a few seconds. The problem is that being instant cast means the support/tank will only use said shield when damage is coming in, to avoid wastage. The result is still the same, if not better due to shields going over maximum health.
HOWEVER.
Shields can exceed maximum health. Heals cannot. If I am on 10% max health and I recieve a 10% heal, my effective health is now 20% of maximum. If I am on 100% max health and I receive a 10% heal, my health is now 100% of maximum. No change. If I am on 10% max health and I recieve a 10% heal, my e.health is now 20% of maximum. If I am on 100% max health and I receive a 10% heal, my e.health is now 110% of maximum, even more considering MR/Armor are working harder for that 10%.
You can nerf Ivern.
You can nerf Nunu.
You can nerf Cho'gath.
They are just the non-supports abusing shields. When someone can provide a 2000 health shield (
) to their entire team with no counterplay, there will be issues.
Until you directly fix the issue of shields having no counterplay, we will continue to be stuck in this stupid spot.
ADCs are not entirely the problem. Excluding a few drain tanks, they are just the inheritor of the crazy shields. Even with Death's Dance being so ludicrously broken, they can still be killed. Unless there is a support nearby.
TLDR: In every way, shields are better than heals, but heals have Grievous wounds as counterplay. Shields do not. Something must be done.
