why aren't more supports building Aegis?

Aegis of the Legion is essentially: pretty good. Gaining some more MR is typically very good, for every member of your party.

Yet I see it being built on supports only rarely. What's up with this???

Low support income, it's expensive, they need sightstone, gold income item, boots, oracles, probably some potions, so it takes forever to get there. also the AD heavy comps that are coming out more and more mean that MR isn't as needed.

Priorities in shorter games. You probably see it far more often in a 45 minute match than a 30 minute because many get boots, tier 3 gold item, sightstone, maybe mikhael's or armor item, and oracles lens first, and that's a lot of gold.

Aside from all the other stuff, once you hit X active items it gets silly (in my case, I really don't want more than 3 + trinket + sightstone). Then there's the occasional situation where you want all these lovely items, but you already hit CDR cap, so it feels like a waste (especially if you invest in early CDR via item 3158 ). There's also a lot of heavy AD comps now (oh, it's AD mid, top and jungle again) and you really need those shiny armor items (see CDR cap) as a priority (see Valkyrie Witch's answer). Or perhaps you're just really starved for mana (good 'ol war against mana regen) or need more AP to do your job properly (Yay for AP scalling supports?).

item 3135 anyone else feeling over powered ap champs atm? like you cant tank them even if you want to? like item 3083 this is what your better of with and praying you regen fast enough?
