Akali Changes...

So...Akali...

Just a few thoughts - she's really strong. Whether she gets fed early game or she powerfarms till she has suitable items, she's a powerhouse late game.

Counterplay is somewhat lacking, as she can only be stopped with hard-cc, and even then she can just shroud out of a lot of problems.

I feel as though maybe her Q should get the Veigar treatment. Make it more of a skillshot, and if the Q hits an object, then she can consume the mark to heal.

I just think having a point and click Q with a short cooldown that also provides healing is a bit too strong for her kit, and it's also impossible to dodge unless you have something like a Windwall.

Just an idea.

I just don't know why an Assassin should be allowed to have such good sustain

I agree. For someone who has a dash reset upon kills or assists, the amount of sustain she has in her kit is a bit too potent. And when you have a team with little/no/ineffective cc, she's virtually unstoppable.

and 2 seconds removed from her w duration

That's a really good idea. Eight seconds is a bit much for something that gives her movement speed, invisibility, and a slow. Either that or lower the distance she can teleport when she initially casts it, so she can only go over thin walls.

She doesn't heal from her Q. She heals from her passive. Are you saying, that she should have another heal in her Kit?

I was under the impression that the Q healed as well. However, my point remains. I'm trying to say that her Q, being a point and click ability, should not be so, because it triggers a mark, which triggers her passive, which bursts and heals at the same time. She'll always be able to detonate the mark because it's point and click. It has a low cool-down, and when you consume the mark it also restores 40 energy, which is more than half of the cost of the ability at rank 1. This isn't really fair, as the ability has little counterplay, and is also very strong. Her heal is another subject, of which I also think should be changed.

So make it a skillshot. Do something about her healing.

And what do you propose for compensation? Making her main damage ability blockable and a skillshot is a pretty big nerf.

Yes, do both. The Q should be a skillshot, it just provides too much to be a point and click. For compensation, Q could do a lot more damage. As of now, her stats are such 35 / 55 / 75 / 95 / 115 (+ 40% AP). for initial magic damage, and 45 / 70 / 95 / 120 / 145 (+ 50% AP) for consuming the mark that it places on the target. There are a couple of things one can do here. One, you can increase the base damage of the Q and slightly increase the ratio (let's say, for example - 45, 65, 80, 110, 125 (+ 45% AP). Or, you could leave the initial Q damage as is, and instead, buff the mark - (55, 80, 100, 130, 155 (+ 55% AP).

Perhaps, for the Q, you could extend the range of the skillshot quite a bit, or make the hitbox wider.

A few other options would be to either decrease the cooldown or energy cost. However, these would have to be very slight changes, as a skillshot Q with a 2.5 second cool-down is not much better than a point and click with a cool-down of 4 at rank 5. The cooldown of Akali's Q, at present, is 6 / 5.5 / 5 / 4.5 / 4. You could change it to something along the lines of 5.5/5/4.5/4/3.5. Half a second doesn't seem like much, but in a game where every second counts, it could be very helpful.

I do believe that changing Akali's Q to a skill shot would not only improve the champion, but also make her more satisfying to play, and easier to play against.

I just think she needs to be put as a higher priority for a full scale rework, because she has so many problems that she needs fixed

I completely agree. However, until that time comes, it never hurts to suggest small fixes to fill in the gap of time it may take to remake the champion
