I miss the old Varus' lore
It was a lot better to me. It made him really feel like the "arrow of retribution". This new story Riot put out about Varus actually being a Darkin trapped inside two homosexual men just feels like an unnecessary change.
Let me make this clear, I do not have anything against homosexual champions, but I feel like Riot was better off creating a new champion altogether and give them a homosexual background rather than changing a character who had already had a great backstory. I'm going to miss the old Varus.
P.S: If Riot would have taken the time to create a new champion (perhaps a Darkin), completely devoid from any other champion, and give them a homosexual background, I believe that they would be better off and would have received less backlash.
However, on that same token, I just want to give a friendly reminder to Riot: please do not make homosexual champions simply to please the media's agenda of force feeding the message of "diversity" down everyone's throat. Diversity is good, but that does not mean everyone has to be beaten over the head with it constantly.
If you had revealed Taric as homosexual, for example, it would be something that would not have come as a surprise to the community, as jokes and assumptions have been made for years, both pre-rework and post-rework. But changing a character who's lore was based solely on the fact that he lost his wife and kid and inhabited corruption in order to avenge them, is a bit of a cheap shot.
Again, I have nothing whatsoever against homosexual champions. But I simply ask this:
Take your time. Revert the change to Varus' lore and instead create a whole new champion. Take your time. You have the characters (Val and Kai). It would be very easy to tinker with their story and make them a new champion, completely devoid of Varus, and I believe it would be far more accepted.
