To the rare people who seem to never want to take any sort of escape summoner

Such as flash or even ghost, why? What purpose does heal and teleport or Barrier and ignite serve you?

Seeing it in champ select is a red flag for me to just dodge at this point since it will always bite me in the butt. But if I can find the root of the cause, maybe I can fix it!

Does that champ have an escape of their own? Zac / Sej / Fizz / Shen / Gragas / J4 to name a few have their own escape / terrain mechanics to be used. Bypassing flash for another summoner skill is viable.

Do champions like Cho and Vlad fall into that category?

cho has enough sustain and gets tanky fairly fast to the point he doesnt need an escape he just either ignores you or knocks you up and silences you and walks away. and there are certain cases whre i find it more beneficial to go tele ignite instead of flash tele for example if im playing yorick i need the lane/map presence as well as the kill potential and generally an enemy gank ends in a double kill for me anyway. so there are reasons people dont take flash/ghost but generally you really shouldnt

Cho may be tanky, but he is indeed slow. Slow things that make plays need to do so without waddling into position. Save a life. Use flash :x

You forgot Kassadin

Riftwalk has a 2 second cooldown again. It's godly.

people take summoner 11 summoner 14 on Shaco ... are they newb too?

Peel Your ADC1 votes

Considering he has flash on a 10 second cooldown, probs not.

Prob wana give your post a little more meaning.. Lots of champs don't take an escape... Some will take like ghost/tp on trynd etc

Peel Your ADC1 votes

Ghost is more of a chase tool than an escape tool unless its maybe hecarim top or something

Dreadlocks1 votes

Thats my point.. but trynd can use his E as an escape.

Just a big flag for me, as the jungler, to camp the hell out of your lane.

What do you mean FIX it? There's nothing to fix, stop treating it as some type of psychological problem.

I don't take flash when I support because I started playing in Season 2, when it was very common to bait towerdives with heal. It's a habit that I couldn't drop, and I'm most comfortable using it. I'm sick of having to explain my gameplay choices.

Here's a tip: you saying 'OMFG this nami won't take flash' in champ select won't make me take flash, and won't change my mind. Deal with it.

Not having an escape like flash makes the person more of a liability. If a jungler sees that you can't run, they can pressure your lane at the threat of a gank to make you play safer, giving his team free reign. And on the off chance you DO get caught out, everyone gets fish sticks for dinner.

This is always listed as one of the reasons why. Have none of you played a jungler? have you never observed a jungler coming into a lane, burning the flash, and looping back down to finish the kill now that they have no escape? 'Oh no, my flash is down, guess I better play passive for the next four minutes!' I make up for it by warding and being aware of where the enemy team is. People are impressed by my Nami kda so no, no fishsticks for dinner.

It makes you the focal point, wherever you go, people around you are in an increased amount of danger since you've got the "gank me" sign on your head.

If someone else gets caught in the crossfire because of such a moment, it'll be rough.

i once saw a darius take summoner 3 summoner 14 against a shyvana in one of my ranked games, turns out when darius has these summoners, shyvana can't approach the minion wave, ever... and a jungle gank can be turned around pretty hard with this summoner spell combo

Flash isn't a panacea. It can help with an escape, but you'd be surprised how rarely I use it some games. There have been times I've wondered if I'd be better off with another spell.

The problem with thinking that flash is 100% necessary is that you are forgetting just how long the cooldown is. Using flash to escape is a desperation move as once used its down for 5 minutes. A jungler that can bait out a flash can always return and try again and the next time your flash will probably be down. So if you are counting on flash as an escape and playing aggressively you can be easily punished.

I do always take flash for now, but I might try different mixes in the future on some champs who I rarely use it on. Honestly, I seem to use it more offensively (flash+ult style) than I use it defensively. (I've had friends who are ranked tell me that I was way too quick to use flash a few weeks ago and now I almost never use it unless I absolutely have no choice or I'm playing support/ADC and have been hooked by a thresh/blitz as part of a gank attempt.)

I trust people when they don't take flash. It means they actually thought about it and chose something that they find useful rather than just jumping on the always take flash bandwagon. I don't see it as a problem if they don't have flash.

Flash is a necessary evil that we all have to bear. A lot of champions aren't able to function without it.

And when you have olaf levels of mobility and you choose to not go flash, it hurts. It hurts us all.
