I have to play outside the backside of my own turrets range when I face an enemy Brand supp

NodirjonSattarov··25 votes·11,527 views

I get that it is a strategic way to play the game, make the opponent miss CS in order to stay alive but I am like actually struggling to stay alive. My jungler CANNOT constantly be bot when I'm shoved in and I can't really do anything during laning phase. After laning phase the enemy Brand switches from supp mode to full fledged second AP midlane. It's just not fun at all.

how to beat brand

pick an all-in supp

jump on him early. he has low hp, long cds, and his adc is not going to be able to save him from focus fire+cc.

then, just make sure you don't cluster after 6, and back off if he lands 2 abilities on you. supports can build mercs or another mr item against him and make him worthless.

This^^ There are a few harass champs in support that work well because they counter the traditional sup/adc lane. I have been having way to much with Fiddle sup bullying adcs out of lane because they have no way to get to him and his crows keep their life low enough that they are always in danger from my adc. I have no problem that these picks challenge the meta. In reality, you have to pick around it. Almost all of the AP harass supports can easily be dealt with, you just can't go with the traditional setups. All in champs destroy a lot of these harass picks, because almost all of them are slow as hell with little in the way of escapes.

What if they pick Brand after you pick your champ?

then you got counterpicked and thats the nature of this game. stop crying for nerfs

so many posts about brand yet riot refuses to hear our cries [sg-janna]

our complaints dont make them money unfortunately :(

Kind of tired of hearing this excuse.

it may not be right but it could be a valid arguement

if anything your delusional. A business is set out to make money, but that doesn't mean they only have to do that. Saying that they aren't always going to change things based on our feedback because they care about money is 100% a legitimate argument. Riot is paying people to work on stuff for the game because they have to. Sure using the phrase "oh but it doesn't make them money" is sorta scummy, there are points behind that statement. Riot is better than other companies at listening to their costumers, but some can argue its "select hearing". please don't @ me with your bs

Unless the brand is very fed, you should still be able to farm. To not get pushed in, have the adc hit the minion waves constantly while farming, if the brand pushes it with his abilities, he will have no mana to punish with.

Rindin147 votes

That would work wonderfully if Brand was alone in bot lane....that's how supports work right?

CithriaC2 votes

The enemy adc has to be auto'ing the wave for it to be pushing under tower. I am assuming that brand is the support in the bot matchup. What part works only if brand is alone at bot?

Rindin144 votes

I was pointing out that, in the situation you described, the solution of "having the adc hit the minion waves constantly while farming" would easily be cancelled out by the enemy adc doing the same. This would (with some variation depending on the lane pressure of the adcs involved) stall the wave out in about the middle, which wouldn't solve anything.

50000000000000002 votes

Presumably your side also has a support

Rindin141 votes

That's the point though. They are saying that a Brand support can provide a lot more poke-pressure and wave-clear than a support should be able to.

Mana problems don't really exist anymore unless you're throwing around full combos. Brand can poke with W consistently with no worries - it's not even his highest costing normal ability. Manaflow band was stupid.

50000000000000009 votes

It's a lot weaker now with the new manaflow, right? It only adds 25 mana for hitting an ability. It's not nearly as oppressive.

With all mages now having infinite mana this is actually a real issue. Sure, you can play around him as I do, dodge every single one of his 20 combos he can throw, knowing if you get hit even once you die. While you can lock him down and it takes multiple times to kill him unless you also have a full burst infinate mana mage.

In the past at most a mage could throw was about 5 combos pre lvl 6 before they were OOM and had to actually port back to base to regen mp. This really needs to return, that would fix a lot of the mage related issues.

Not to mention the jungler can't do very much as brand will just transform into a suicide bomber and takes one with him.

Kill her tentacles and actually fight her back when she finally lands and E. As long as you don't get hit by her tentacles WITH your spirit you will usually come out ahead in trades since you only have to DAMAGE Illaoi like 5 times to get your soul back (which is why champions like Urgot and Singed are impossible to trade with since repetitive damage instantly gets your soul back).

I do not know what it is, but some champions I have issues with brand support, and some I have a blast and just ignite all in him. item 3009 are also strong against his two skillshots.

DoktorKaiser1 votes

Zyra is the same case but is actually braindead because she doesn't even have to land her abilities to harass you and she has very easy to land CC that leads into straight 1 shot at lvl 6, at least Brand has to bounce his ult a little bit and hit his Q stun past the minions if he wants to 1 shot you, Zyra just smashes her head into the keyboard and you either die or are left with 10% hp and all that through minions. Fun times.

Weiss Guertena4 votes

Yes, she does have to land her abilities unless she wants her plants to focus-fire the nearest minion. Learn how a champion works before complaining if you want that complaint to have any credibility.

5050BS1 votes

Her Plants die instantly to Turrets and are ALWAYS targeted by turrets if in range.

You have to drop two+ seeds to get one plant to attack once.

Here's how to learn how to play against any champion in the game:

Step 1: Play that champion yourself. Step 2: Get destroyed. Step 3: Realize that champions strenghts and weaknesses, e.g. how long their cooldowns are, situations where they do not work, etc. Step 4: Go into a game facing that champion on the enemy team. Step 5: Use what you have learned to abuse them during the laning phase and use basic game understanding to avoid their win conditions in the mid/late game (in the case of Brand, don't clump, look for fights in the open where you can scatter or jump him)

The Brand situation from the past few months just goes to show you, Riot is terrible at balancing Supports. Every other season its a different immobile mage being used as a pseudo support.

The only reason I can think as to why they're not nerfing him is because he's the perfect auto fill Support. As a mid main I try to score him when I get autofilled. Yes, mentality has to be shifted towards supporting, but any player worth his/her salt can do that if they truly want to win.

Riot needs to define the support role in a superior way then what they've tried ; AP Mages as supports are the antithesis of their bot lane balancing procedure and will be the death of their upcoming "non-marksmen" botlane work.

remakoro2 votes

what are you talking about? For past 4 seasons he always was there never really leaving bot.

T4underbolt1 votes

The part of the autofill is actually right and proves that riot caters to noobs and casuals instead of actually balance the game. Guess which Cho do you get when you lvl new account up? Yes brand is that free champion. Riot literally knows that the worst kids will want to do DMG and kill even as support so they overbuffed brand. The easy fix is to change his passive base DMG which is dumb it's 20% max hp base and turn most of it into scaling. So brand has to be played in solo lane and farm in order to get enough gold to get DMG that would be threatening.

5050BS1 votes

There are quit a few champs that can harass you under turret very easily and its really stupid.

Schenix1 votes

Brand punishes passive laners. Your solution is to be a playmaker or more aggressive.

The level 6 is what becomes a pain in bot because even if you manage to poke him down better or all in him, if he had a moment to press R then it becomes dangerous regardless. I think the slow should be removed, as a personal opinion. However, his counterplay exists and it's abundant, there just isn't any room to over respect his existence without his ult.

NodirjonSattarov1 votes

I'd rather not try to counter the enemy team support because that just sounds silly.

Schenix1 votes

That isn't particularly what I said, but it is an option if you are a support against him; and one you would most likely want to take.

A Xayah who doesn't play forward and abuse that she can play better than Brand for instance, will get poked down and lose advantages. The advantage is that they have no tank, so playing forward works if you have at least 1 minion in front to block an E-Q or have confidence in yourself to not get hit. Once Q is blown, and you are in a position that isn't passive -- Brand has to blow flash against you or risk dying or losing most of his health.

This does not mean overcommit of course, but to push your micro advantages and place yourself in positions that you expect to be able to do so. A very important concept to put into practice; and difficult to execute as well without the confidence, mechanics, or overall game knowledge.
