Riot please nerf Nocturne

Khristophoros··7 votes·5,890 views

I just played a game where he built pure assassin and 1 shotted me every time his ult was up. There was literally nothing I could do. He saved his ult for me every time and it was the most BM thing I've ever experienced. My team won but I DIDN'T GET TO PLAY. I tried following around our Thresh, didn't matter. I tried grouping. He didn't even go for anyone until I got to the teamfight, then he fucking killed me. I repeat. It was the most BM thing I've ever seen.

Late game his ult was shorter CD than my respawn timer. I literally LITERALLY did not get to play the game.

This should not be a thing in League of Legends. A champion shouldn't be able to jump across the map and do 100% of your health in completely unavoidable damage with just like a few melee attacks, duskblade, and tiamat.

It's 100% BM and adds no value to the game because you know if overall his strategy was game winning you would nerf it. So it shouldn't be a thing.

You played and ADC, you are supposed to die to Noc. You have counter play though, you could walk him over your traps and blow him up, you could have built Tabi's, Thresh could have itemized to help you as well.

Khristophoros4 votes

That doesn't work he just uses spell shield

And tabi does nothing against him. Does it work against his passive? No. Does it work against Tiamat? No. Does it work against his ult? No. Does it work against Duskblade? No.

Warlord Rhinark2 votes

You know what helps against being blown up immediately?

item 2420 and item 3026

Khristophoros3 votes

So I can survive one of his 8 ults over the course of the game?

Warlord Rhinark3 votes

Hey it's better than nothing okay.

DW Diana2 votes

Leave nocturne alone. He's only recently become a truly viable jungler and deserves a chance to shine. Want to stop him from 1 shotting you? Build armour, stopwatch or GA. Assassin nocturne is squishy as all hell (and rarely played as a full assassin because it's really not necessary), so he will rarely survive after killing someone anyway.

Khristophoros2 votes

He shouldnt be able to 100% remove somebody from the game with 0 counterplay

You mean like every assassin in the game can? Nocturne is dead if he goes in 90% of the time if her builds assassin.

Khristophoros2 votes

No, you can actually avoid them by playing the map better than them. Nocturne can just ult from half way across the map.

That's why he can't.

Khristophoros2 votes

He can. Just build tiamat duskblade and ult the squishy of your choice

Well yeah, if the enemy is starved. The reason I don't take these kinds of thread seriously is because you lost to a fed opponent one time. Instead of learning from your mistakes and how to counter the champion, you try to start a crusade to nerf the daylights out of that champion. Yeah, Nocturne is fine where he is.

AR URF2 votes

The only thing I'd like them to nerf is his spellshield. Fear with spellshield, duskblade AND trinity force? Yeah riot make it happen already.

Khristophoros2 votes

I would rather they just gut his burst damage and increase his DPS or Q uptime or w/e

if they gut him it will have to be his ult because trinity force and duskblade are going to be a problem. he has lower counterplay because like if I'm playing Vayne I can't just e him because spell shield. I can't outrun his fear, and by the time he gets to me with his ult, half my hp is missing.

As someone who played a metric fuckton of 'one shot assassin' nocturne, before they recently nerfed the build hard via items:

Nocturne does not actually 1-shot unless he's way ahead. In reality he's generally going to take 2-ish seconds to kill an onpar target, at a minimum, for most of the game.

That's a tight window, but you can do a lot in that window. Stand near your support and smack him with multiple spells (damage, then the hard CC) in order to peel him.

Build GA / have your support get a shield item; this is viable because assassin noct generally fluctuates on a 1 for 1 trade ratio. He NEEDS to kill someone who is more valuable than himself to earn his keep, because 9 times out of 10 he's going to die a few seconds after scoring that kill. A single GA proc can easily turn that into a free death on his part, and then a crushing defeat.

Quite frankly, the easiest thing to do is just fucking group. 1-shot noct is total glass; less than 1800 HP and nothing but base resistances. Your team, if grouped, can delete him before he can delete you; it's really not hard.

I already said several times my team killed him when he suicided for me but the fact remains I had to spend the whole game staring at a grey screen and that's not ok. It's not OP but it's also not acceptable.

And he doesn't need to be fed. The only thing he did the entire game was single me out. He didn't kill anyone else, nor did he farm especially well in lane, and his first kill on me was a turret dive with only tiamat + serrated dirk and it was an instant kill.

It's totally acceptable.

Kha'zix, Zed, Talon, and LB are all perfectly capable of hopping over a wall and deleting a squishy in about a second flat, no questions asked and no warning given.

Assassins kill squishy ADC's, more news at 11.

Nocturne is sort of unique. He has MASSIVE target access with his ulti, meaning that you can't 'keep away' from him in the same way you can other assassins. However this isn't innately unbalanced; he pays for it in having extraordinarily weak tools (his Q and R aren't exactly 'damage heavy' spells by assassin standards) when it comes to killing, having 0 ways out, and giving a MASSIVE warning to EVERYONE that he's coming in.

This is a fair trade off, because while Nocturne will usually get onto the target he wants to kill, he's going to have a much harder time killing that target / give others more time to react than all of the other assassins.

The fact that you were "staring at a grey screen" all game is entirely yourself and your team. You had a poor build to begin with and refused to counter build, while your team seemed unable / unwilling to provide you with adequate support to survive. You failed to respect what a fed Nocturne (despite your denial, actually looking at the game stats makes it clear he was fed) could do, and suffered for it. Zed, Olaf, Leblance, Zac, and many other champions can screw you just as hard - or harder - for disrespecting them.

Slightly off topic: This is a huge fucking problem in NA in general. People need to get their head out of their asses and recognizes that champions and roles are supposed to have strengths, and if you fail to give those strengths respect you are liable to get shit on. The answer is to improve as a player, not scream and wail for nerfs like an autistic baboon.

Khristophoros3 votes

You can avoid assassins because they dont have noct ult

It's not acceptable for him to be able to burst people without counterplay because of that.

VoraciousX2 votes

Let's all be honest here. A Nocturne is 98% of the time going to kill any champion he ults, assuming he's ulting a squishy. There's no counterplay to it. Banshee's only protects against the nearsight, GA might help, but if the rest of your team doesn't kill him, or peel him off of you(they can't cuz he has a spellshield, unless he uses it stupidly), you're dead. While I don't think Nocturne really needs to be nerfed, this is another situation in which it's definitely not fun for the one person he makes completely useless the entire game. He's another champion heavily in need of some under the hood work. And no, he doesn't "fall off", he just gets to the point where he's useless outside of one shotting whoever he ults. Honestly the term "falls off" is stupid for every champion that people say "falls off". I've gotten one shot by a Lee Sin with a full build while I was full build(I think he built full AD though, but that's not the point), one level over him, and fed off my ass. He didn't "fall off", he just isn't a teamfighter. Renekton can still bully the hell out of any one person he fights, again, he isn't really a teamfighter. The same with Nocturne. He's gonna one shot whoever he ults, but he again, isn't much of a teamfighter. Nocturne one shotting someone over and over and over isn't good when it's the same person over and over and over. It's pretty unfair when that one person cannot even play the game, and I've been there.

I'm not saying Nocturne is OP or anything, obviously, he has his own problems, but that doesn't negate the fact that Nocturne himself is a problem for whoever he has his eyes on. He needs some changes.

{quoted}

item 3814 adds damage, activate to block his ult damage. Merry Christmas.

Spellshields only block the nearsight. You don't seem to know much about Nocturne's interactions with things like this, do you?

Khristophoros2 votes

but apparently he's a m6 nocturne. Sure has put a lot of thought into countering his braindead faceroll champ though hasn't he?

VoraciousX2 votes

Like I said, I don't think Nocturne needs nerfs. I think he needs changes to make him less "ult one champion, kill them, do nothing else until your ult is back up" It's not fun for the champion he's ulting and it's likely not fun for the Nocturne when he can't do anything after that.

You are right he needs power shifts

VoraciousX1 votes

You are right he needs power shifts

Well his whole kit is about killing one person, his only defense is his spellshield, but it offers no real defense, he has no gapclosers or anything, so until he gets some real changes to his actual kit that's probably all he's going to do, ult one person, kill them, and do nothing else. He relies on auto attacks a lot so that's kinda part of the problem as well. So power shifts probably wouldn't do much for him either.

I agree with nerfing Nocturne. I rather have Maokai buffed to so that he doesn't take damage than having Nocturne in the game.

Look noc is one of my least favorite champs, because if you are that 1 person he picks there is nothing you can do untill hourglass/ga. take this clip for example. i am pushed up on ezreal but im also 3-1 im dominating my laner vlad and i hear darkness so i retreat from the fight with vlad on about 80% hp or more while vlad ulted but not taking vlads ult damage i just disapear from over 70% of my hp soon as his model connects to mine this noc is only got 1 item not even boots.

P.S. i like how these necros are still true to this day lmao.

It's borderline impossible to survive a Nocturne Dive when he's ahead and your playing a Squishy champion with no mobility tools.

He is a HARD COUNTER to the likes of Ashe Xerath Zyra Ziggs Velkoz.

All that said, I don't believe he needs direct nerfs because if you take away his identity you essentially dumpster the champion. Instead, you have to build teamcomps around him and stick together so he can't dive you rapid-fire.

**If I can make a prediction with the upcoming AD item changes, no ones talking about Nocturne, and I think he's going to secretly get busted with all the burst items heading to AD Bruisers, and he's going to get nerfed into oblivion and not see the light of day for awhile. **

Khristophoros2 votes

He was not "ahead". I laned against him and we were totally even until he got tiamat and serrated dirk and then he just started killing me every time he had ult.

If Nocturne's "identity" is to make sure one enemy stares at a grey screen for 20-40 minutes he SHOULD ABSOLUTELY BE DUMPSTERED.

Thornmail Jinx?

You're telling me the correct answer is to give up on actually playing my champion in any remotely effective way and just build tank Jinx.

Well that was what I was going to build if the game had continued. Just a shitload of tank items because otherwise I was dead 100% of the time.

You could just stop getting caught...

Khristophoros3 votes

Against Nocturne that means never show up anywhere that he has vision. So I can no longer rotate for farm even on my team's side of the map. I completely stopped trying to get any farm and tried to just stay with allies but it didn't stop him because he didn't mind suiciding for me.

afmghost2 votes

Why did you feed him then?

Khristophoros2 votes

I was even with him 0 kills each. Then he finished Tiamat + Serrated Dirk (wow so fed!) and 1 shotted me with his ult.

It's common sense that a fed assassin can burst down a solitary squishy. You have a team, farm alongside them.

I already told you he wasn't fed. He had just finished 2 cheap items and was 0 kills.

You're still squishy. ADCs should not wonder off on their own, especially with an enemy assassin in the comp. I am sorry, but I feel no sympathy for you.

I'm an M6 Nocturne. I have more grounds to speak than you do. I know that if an assassin Nocturne can be destroyed easily if teamed up on. Like I said earlier, you just want to crusade because you lost a game.

I just noticed you played him. 3/8 yet begging for a nerf. If you can't scrape the braincells together to figure out what really went wrong then I suggest you stop being on this forum. Saw you complaining about kassadin aswell. You want the game altered to your champ pool or something?

Dude this was 2 months ago.

Stop necroing.

It's against the boards universal rules under "Spamming & Trolling".

Khristophoros3 votes

2 months later I still stand by this thread.

Had another game recently with an enemy nocturne killing somebody every 60 seconds. We ended up winning but that doesn't make it ok.

Khristophoros3 votes

Wow it's almost like it takes more than 1 game to start doing well with a champ. Plus I'm bad at jungle.
