Which support to buy?

Hey guys! I wanted to buy a support champion. At the moment I own Sona and Nunu. However, Nunu is not really a support champion and Sona is unbelievably squishy. Which champ would be the best to get? Which support has good mobility and has good HP?

Don't underestimate Braum. People go on about how niche he is, but he's honestly very flexible. Has natural bulk, CC, and is pretty much the only support with a dash in the form of his W. You can play him aggressively or offensively in lane very efficiently thanks to his shield letting him take hits, as well as his surprising damage potential mid game. He took over from Thresh as my go to support a while ago :P (Thresh is VERY squishy nowadays because of the state of runes and masteries, I can't play him properly because of that)

You can try Leona. Tank and can pull herself towards enemy champs.

I STRONLY recommend either Nautilus OR thresh.

Thresh's passive allows him to build AP and Armor without buying items so he gets progressively tanky has awesome CC and can traverse terrain by latching onto enemies and champs with his Q.

Super tanky: go Nautilus

  • He has a ton of CC which is great and his passive allows for a 1 second stun with just auto attacking.

Leona is also good - she was my first tank support.

Could try Alistar, although I'm not sure how you like to play. I assume tanky champions that can have a decent impact on team fights? Leona, Alistar, Braum, they all are pretty decent (not sure about Thresh as I haven't payed him enough). Leona probably can have the most impact on a team fight if you catch the enemy clumped together (managed to get 3 of them in an MF ult, they surrendered right after, best moment ever). Same thing with Alistar's stun, but you'd have to work on his W - Q combo a lot along with his flash - Q - W combo (something I need to work on myself). Braum is more defensive in a way because of his shield and you can effectively soak a lot of damage with it without needing them to target you, plus your ult and passive is pretty strong with the right ADC/team.

Actually, alistar is great - approved.

Nami is the strongest and most fun of all the Supports. All statistics across all MMR ranges and regions confirm this, I'm not biased just trust me.

If you liked sona's playstyle but just feel too squishy and not so useful with ulti in cool down I highly recommend Nami. I honestly think she is the best support of ap-utility category, her damage in early game is scary, while sustaining herself and her adc, and later on the only one who can protect their carry netter then a competent nami could be a janna.also all her kit ( except maybe E, which is a cherry on the cake) is crucial in a teamfight. She is somewhat high skill cap to play well but I assure she is totally worth the effort as she is tons of fun and she gives a lot of satisfaction as you progress.

"Which support has good mobility and has good HP?" The unfortunate news is: Tankyness, actual high-mobility, and being good at supporting aren't qualities that are really found together.

The best advice I can give is this:

Try some out yourself so you don't waste your hard earned money or your harder-earned IP.

If you play some you can and find out which supports have a playstyle that works with you, that you find engaging and enjoyable, and is something that you will find fun worth your money. You can't be helped with that by asking on a forum because people are just going to tell you what they enjoy and that's not what you enjoy.

Try the free-rotation! Right now there is one support on the rotation and he has a lot of effective HP. TahmKench Tahm Kench - the River King. He is a tank Champion with the ability to regenerate the health that he loses from damage or can instead transform the damage he has taken into a shield that prevent him from taking anymore. He can support as well because he also engulf a target allowing him to take a target to safety or to chase down a fleeing enemy, or devour an enemy champion for a single target nuke that scales even without items. Based on what you said, you might like him. Watch some videos on how to use him and give him a shot.

Alistar Alistar is another option and you can get him if you subscribe to Riot's youtube channel. He can charge and Headbutt enemies away, let out a roar to regenerate his health and those around him and can ult to take 50-70% reduced damage from enemies. He is another option for your tanky support needs.

I'm giving you these as no-risk options, because I know it would suck to spend a months worth of IP on a champion you did not like and would not play based of a board rec.

Shen has a skillshot dash, natural tankiness and can support pretty well
