Some ideas on how to make supporting more desireable

Personally, I think support items and gold gain are in a pretty decent area right now. Their experience gain could definitely use a bit of a boost. And their contributions deserve bigger rewards. So with that in mind, here are a few things I would like to see added to help make people want to support.

  1. Stat gains on assists for support items. Something simple like +10 max health for assists with red support item, +2 AP for blue support items, +5% base health/mana regen rates for yellow support items. This would help supports feel more rewarded when they get an assist and make them more powerful for playing their role correctly

  2. Bonus ward health for every enemy ward destroyed that you got a hit on for sightstone items (and maybe tracker's knife). Not like an extra hit for every ward destroyed, but more like an extra hit for every 10 wards destroyed. So if you actually manage to destroy 20 wards, it takes 5 hits to get rid of one of your wards.

  3. Slightly increased hextech key fragement drop rate for queueing as support or fill.

  4. Merge and slightly buff the gold gain and experience gain quints so supports have a good support rune option.

  5. Some form of power spike for hitting 30 assists. Something like every assist after immediately refreshes the cooldowns on your active items and takes 20 seconds off the cooldowns of your summoner spells. This would reward supports that play extremely well at their role by making them more impactful. It also starts a mini game that makes supports more excited about getting assists.

  6. Adding a ward charge to sightstone upon destroying an enemy ward up to the max charges held.

  7. This isn't that important, but I really think that Eye of the Equinox should get 10% CDR. I cannot understand why it is the only eyestone that doesn't have CDR. It seems a bit unfair.

Support isn't desireable it's the one role where you get almost no credit for anything done and you get almost as much blame as the jg the difference being after a good gang it's gj jg never gj sup, until people start treating supports like real people and not ward slaves that should bodyblock a jhin ult with 10hp remaining just so the adc doesn't take a little damage.

I really like the idea of a scaling or reset mechanic on support items, specifically scaling because the reset could be a serious issue with some champs. Have it cap at like 5-8 stacks one per assist and give them access to a mini mid game power spike because at that point they're probably still on gold income item + sightstone and maybe a few components. Honestly I really only want the XP issue fixed I don't really have much of an issue with gold income.

  1. Could be a decent idea for the support gold gen item. Targon line can get +X max HP so tanky support get something, Frostfang for AP, Coin line for sustain. The only problem is I don't think this idea will actually make people want to support because I see it as just free stat gain for not doing much.

  2. Extra health on ward is fairly useless. Most wards expire before they're spotted and destroyed most of the time.

  3. This doesn't fix anything except make people who don't play support Q for support which isn't a good thing.

  4. If they buff EXP/Gold quint then other roles than support will abuse it very easily.

  5. other roles can get assists too so I'm not too sure what kind of rewards will make it worthwhile for support while not being broken on other roles.

  6. Can be a good idea so support don't have to back every minutes or so because nothing happens on the map.

The reason people don't play support is because of the mentality that they are useless and are just there to babysit ADC/getting carried by their team. People want to be the carry. They want to be known. They want to be that star that gets most of the credits so unless the mentality about support changes it will remain the least popular role.
