I've heard that Diamond players have long queue times

How about a game mode that matches high elo players with low elo players to help them improve their abilities. Of course, people who rage and flame will be disallowed from partaking in this.

What are your thoughts?

Edit: You guys are misunderstanding. It's a seperate game mode. MMR, rating, rank, are all unaffected. This is something purely on improving lower elo players. Maybe some compensation for the diamond players could apply.

Then you have kids who post shit like this on the front page "Consistently matched against plat level players as silver 2"

People don't want to go against better players in norms, they see it as unfair and instead of trying to learn from it they just go to boards and bitch

Maybe if the diamonds they play against weren't such assholes who are only looking for an easy stomp to feed their massive egos. When was the last time you saw a diamond give a low elo player legitimate advice in-game? Because I've seen it happen exactly zero times, even when the low elo asked for it. Low elo player will NOT learn through simple observation. If they could, then everyone who watches the LCS would be diamond or better. But since they're not, it's up to the high elo players to set an example and offer polite constructive criticism. As opposed to what happens now in these types of matches, where the high elo simply laughs in all chat about how bad his opponents are and tells them to stay bronze forever.

When I was Plat 5 last season I grinded a bunch of norms in the pre season right before season 6. I was paired against diamonds almost every single game. Instead of bitching I was studying how they played and what they did differently from me. Once season 6 hit, I easily climbed out of plat and got as high as diamond 1 at one point. I've decayed a bit since then and am at diamond 3 now, but I still owe a ton of my success to all those normals against diamond level players back when I was barely plat.

Yea, to many people lately "OMG WHY AM I FACING PLAT AND DIAMOND IN NORMALS FFS RITO U SOOPID!!!" They just fail to see the opportunity, as a support I'm happy I have faced a lot of Plat and Diamond Draven players, it only helped me learn how to play against him.

Two problems and these tend to be common to any game which uses ELO ranking (including chess, backgammon, and videogames):

  1. There are quite a few people in higher ranks who don't want to play with lower-ranked players unless their is some sort of benefit in it for them. (Playing in such games is a rating risk, and even if you are on the winning side, is often less entertaining.)
  2. There are quite a lower-ranked players who don't want to be on the end of a higher-ranked player stomping. (Also, in the case of MOBAs, if you have the strong higher ranked player on your side great, but there are quite a few lower-ranked egos out there that are resistant to being carried.)

One more thing: you can see groups that have higher and lower elo queued together in ranked already. And they have been some of the most toxic games that I have encountered. The lower elo guy messes up and before you know it, other team members are to blame. So hopefully you can understand it when I say "no thank-you". ;)
