[Theorycraft] PBE Triforce - Who benefits, who suffers?

5/17 PBE Update

As you may have noticed, currently, on the PBE, item 3078 is updated:

Now Builds out of item 3101 instead of item 3086 . Total price reduced to 3600 from 3800 Attack speed increased to 40% from 15% Cooldown reduction increased to 20% from 10% Critical Strike Chance reduced to 0 from 20%

Now, while I do not think that the 40% AS will stay (imo, it will be reduced to 35%), who will benefit and who will suffer from these changes? Keep in mind that these are only my opinions, and feel free to agree or disagree.

First of, for the ones suffering, three champions come to mind that are currently using item 3078 :

Yasuo Gangplank Corki

Yasuo uses it in his bruiser build and will potentially be hit the hardest, as the removal of the crit chance essentially takes 40% Crit chance away from him. On the other hand, he can still use the other effects of Triforce, chiefly the Sheen proc due to his low CDs on Q and E. Also, Triforce Yasuo can afford to be toned down a notch - his winrate is 51.74% and rising.

Gangplank is also in a fairly good position, as far as his performance is concerned. Removing Triforce's Crit will however definitely hit him - but I would be lying if I said that I am very sad about him getting hit.

Corki has been dumped into the gutter for Triforce-unrelated reasons some patches ago, and has not yet recovered from that. When the dust from the Triforce adjustments has settled, I suspect that he will be on the receiving end for buffs (right in time for World's, too). In the meantime, changing his build to Triforce/ER/IE could help to diminish this hit. Bonus points for doing more damage with spells that way while avoiding overcapping on CdR.

Now, for the benefactors:

Jax Irelia

These first two are obvious choices. I even suspect that Irelia will need a slight nerf in 6.12 - I just hope that she will not be utterly destroyed.

Ezreal

Without altering the remaining items of his current prefered builds, Ezreal could use Triforce instead of Frozen Fist if he wants more damage output - whereas choosing the Fist gives more control over the enemy team and a slight safety net.

Darius Gnar Hecarim Illaoi Nasus Olaf Poppy Rengar Skarner Trundle Udyr Vayne Vi MonkeyKing XinZhao Yorick Shyvana Malphite Leona Khazix JarvanIV Lucian Gragas Fizz Ekko

Quite a few other champions, Assassins, Skirmishers, Juggernauts and Divers alike, will find to like the changes to Trinity Force. Juggernauts like Darius, Illaoi or Skarner (although he is no true Juggernaut and will receive balance shifts) will like the improved Triforce due to their high base AD and shortish cooldowns (which get even shorter with 20% CdR). Divers like Xin, Hecarim and Vi will like the offensive power it gives, between the sustained damage increase mixed with regular burst spikes. The same goes for the more sustained combat-oriented assassins (Kha'Zix, Rengar). They also love the CdR like a cherry on top. Finally, Skirmishers like Vayne and Vayne will like the item for the increased mobility between the Phage passive, raw MS and lower cooldowns on their mobilty spells while not taking too much of a DPS loss due to the high AS and regular Sheen proc spikes.

Yes, I know Leona is mainly played support. And no, I do not really care about that - if I list Vayne on whom Tri is a offbuild, I can also list Leona. And Ekko. And Fizz. And Lucian. And Shyvana. And...got the picture?

GP and Yasuo suffer. That's good for everyone, because Yasuo stops being cancer, and GP will finally stop being over-bearing at high level, opening up room for buffs eventually.

Every other champion that considered buying it at any point in LoL likes the new TF more, outside of Kog/Luc, who are irrelevant because they would not buy the current iteration either way.

yasuo can still use triforce. there is nothing stopping him from getting 100% crit with infinity edge and another crit item. since his q cooldown scales with attack speed and the coolown on triforce benefits his ult and windwall, the only wasted stat is mana really.

youre not buying it as first item on him anymore, but its still viable for him.

in the end i dont think yasuo will actually suffer, as he will simply return to the infinity edge build. its not like its a terrible build path for him, as he gets an increase in dps from the crit passive in return.

It benefits literally any bruiser in the game. The problem is most champions cant afford to build Trinity Force in the current meta and IBG is still cheaper (and better). As you said, champions like Jax and Irelia will benefit the most of it but it will also make Nasus and Trundle think more whether to get IBG or Triforce again and other champions like Vi, Udyr and Volibear can go back to building Triforce again.
