what if we're looking at runes wrong?

ok, so, hear me out.

this is from the perspective of an ADC main, so most of my builds and knowledge on builds comes from that.

but we treat new runes, like old masteries, and not like old runes. we put almost nothing but damage runes on our pages.. what if that's not optimal? what if we could actually find even more success by doing different combination options?

ADCs for example. what if we go precision resolve, instead of precision sorcery? or domination resolve. old ADC runes pages were always AD/AS quints, AD/AS reds, armor yellows, and MR blues. what if we go AD/AS precision with armor+MR resolve? we could sustain in lane longer, which means more CS, which means more farm, which means better late game leads..

idk.. leave your thoughts, im not trying to start arguments or whatever, i'm just legit curious if this is a more optimal build..

I see what you're saying, and agree we should try new combinations, but the real problem lies in the fact that it's harder to gain resistances across the board, not just for people who take resolve. If an ADC were to run Precision+Resolve versus another ADC with Precision+Domination, you end up gimping yourself on so much damage that it just ends up not being worth it. Essentially we're in a meta of "who can kill who first" which is why you see tanks struggling, deaths in less than 1 second, or a single team fight deciding the game. It goes deeper than just trying other combinations, unfortunately.

if that's the case, then why didn't everyone just build damage runes with the old runes system?

Because in addition to people losing a decent amount of base armor and MR and not being compensated with the new runes system, we now have:

-Stormrazor -Duskblade -IE True Damage -Electrocute, Conqueror, Press the Attack, etc. (Keystones) -Infernal Drakes -Eyeball Collection, Coup de Grace, etc. (Sub-keystones/masteries) -Increases across the board of damage ratios and base damage on abilities (because Riot believed they were missing out on damage from the old rune pages) -Newer champions coming out with increasing amounts of damage output (Zoe, Pyke, Kai'sa, Akali, Aatrox, Evelynn, etc.) -Tanks falling out of favor because of the new rune system make it seem like there's more damage also (because building resistances basically isn't what it used to be) -Assassins and Fighters getting a lot of compensation buffs

The reason you didn't see people with full damage rune pages on the old system is because it wasn't as rewarding since champions could stack resistances from the very beginning. It was more efficient to just build some resistances and some damage, and it also made it seem like everyone was tanker as a result. I really dislike the current meta and I want tanks to be tanky again.

People prefer to cover their strengths than covering their weaknesses, unless the defensive options are just blatantly over powered.
