Is some pleb really saying that Hashinshin is building his AD melees top wrong?
**Yes. **
Look, the new Conqueror's a good keystone; duh. It's amazing on many mages as well as AD melees of which Garen and Darius are prime examples. But not every single mage or melee AD deserves the keystone toplane - in fact hardly any ex-bruisers should run it alongside pure AD items there in the first place as it's dumb, it causes them to crumble at the slightest hint of jg/mid pressure and it sets teamfights involving 2+ allied ACTUAL carry champions up to fail spectacularly.
Aatrox for one is way too unreliable to make Conqueror + stacking AD work. Extremely large gaps between his cast times very clearly make him unwieldy, as well as all of it being very dodgable and even with max CDR having loads of downtime; it all screams "give Aatrox time to set people up" rather than "let me 1v9 this game" and his items have to reflect that. His bonus AD from his ult is the same no matter what so there's no reason to ever rush a ton of extra raw AD on the champion, not to mention while his burst is good his dps is honestly piddly compared to other champions, unless of course the stars align and the entire enemy team decides to stand still in Aatrox's sweetspots.
AD melee non-hypercarries are burdened with being much less useful if they don't build appropriate (note: not PURE) HP/resistances; the solution thankfully is just building what's most efficient depending on the champions in the game. If enemy teams have 3+ autoattack-oriented champions then there's no excuse not to buy either Tabi + Bramble or a finished armor item as a 2nd item. If enemy teams have more than one mage they can honestly just sit on a single NMM after their first item and then either use it to build Merc's/Wit's End or upgrade it to a tank iitem later on as a 3rd item. If friendly teams are squishy and lack self-peel, melees should build HP+AD items instead of raw AD items like DD, BORK or Sanguini so that they can afford to stick around after taking the inevitable brunt of a rotation in a teamfight.
In top lane, there's never an excuse for going even X/4 unless it's as the likes of Yasuo. Got ganked a ton of times? Some of those were 3-man ganks? It shouldn't matter in the slightest. Not only do most melee ADs have solid self-peel but more innate healing and tankiness than most other champions as well. These champions were designed to deal with punishment and keep rolling. Forcing the enemy jungler to focus on top without getting kills is a huge boon to teammates and being completely unprepared for visitors is straight-up irresponsible as any non-hypercarry top laner as all it does is enable enemy champions to hypercarry instead. Tanks are so powerful right now because they are inherently resilient laners and players have always built what resistances are relevant to them. AD melee players taking Conqueror and building pure damage throw that resiliency right out the window.
TL;DR: Instead of acting like one's favorite top laners are comparable to marksmen, start understanding that being one's own babysitter and managing the hardest lane in the game has some consequences. Not all top laners are designed to single-handedly carry games, nor should they be. There are at least 2~3 actual carries on teams right now anyways. If one wants to carry as a top laner, play them mid instead where botlane and objectives are all within reach without running a summoner with a 6-minute cooldown.
