As a Yorick main with a 53% win rate with him, I just flatly disagree with you. My stats are about normal for any other juggernaut as well, at least for anyone in Plat and above, with more than a few hundred games on their champ. The biggest issue tends to be perception, I do not think of any champ as bad, I see an Aatrox and respect their potential as much as any other champion.
Problem is, people do not know how to play with a Yorick on their team, they often think he is a tank, but he has no CC, so that is not true. He is often considered gated by mana, but you never see anyone just run mana glyphs and the mana mastery. You hear he doesn't scale, but the opposite is actually true, he has a 1.2 AD scaling Q, ghouls auto 3 times in a life span for .35 AD (another 1.05 AD on every single skill potentially), his Ult scales on AD and his E is a 1.0 scaling AD. He may be the best scaling Juggernaut currently in the game, but only a handful of players build Cleaver (which is applied by his ghoul autos) and try for auto attacks during trades, everyone builds Tear when there is just better options for him. No, Yorick is not bad, never has been, but is limited by misconceptions and doubts.
The moment you look at champ select and think you have lost is the moment you already have, it is far better to figure out how to win instead.
