Has the punishment "banned from ranked" ever been considered? And if so ----

Could someone explain why it wasn't implemented? I feel like riot treats playing league like a privilege where if you screw up then they insta punish you. We can argue about whether or not they actually enforce punishments or not but thats neither here nor there.

But they treat ranked like it's a god given right where players are allowed to la dee dah all they want because tee hee. Isn't ranked supposed to be a competitive environment where people are supposed to be playing to win? Not crit sona. Not kassadin top. Not swain adc. Not janna jungle. Not first time sion. I understand if you aren't 100% comfortable with your pick or if you're going against the grain with something a little off meta. But there's a fucking line that nobody wants to address where if you cross it you shouldn't be allowed to play ranked.

DISCLAIMERS (ik its at the end of the post but I'm just writing as i think of it)

  1. I'm fine with off meta picks that you've played in normals. People should be allowed to play the champions they like and feel comfortable with.
  2. I'm fine with people having bad games, or going 1/8 or something. Those are unavoidable and it's understandable if someone gets tilted. It happens to everyone and we shouldn't condemn people for not playing at max capacity every game.
  3. I'm fine with people not having the same desire to win as me, to a degree. As long as their goal is to win and they're trying to do that. But when they start doing the thing where they turn on the click-bot and just afk farm the lanes... that should be considered afking or throwing.

The main question i guess is if playing league in general is a privilege, then why isn't playing ranked a privilege in its own right? Everyone should be allowed to play it at first obviously. People who say "you shouldn't be allowed ranked until you have a msatery 5" are stupid. But punishments in ranked should be MUCH more strict and apply only to ranked to uninsentivize (is that a word?) trolling and screwing around in the game mode where the point is to do the exact opposite.

It was implemented but made norms too toxic for riots liking and was removed. There used to be a much larger punishment spectrum but riot removed most of it.

idk when it was removed exactly i quit in season 3 and it was still in place and i came back preseason 7 and it wasnt. But you would get banned from ranked for a set amount or norms games depending on the severity and frequency of your punishments. Also except in the most extreme situations you could get infinite amounts of chat restrictions for flaming but people were racking up totals into the 1000s and just started inting instead of flaming. And if you were finally banned for inting or flaming there was the level 20 challenge as it was called were if you could level a new account to 20 without getting punished your main account was unbanned but you could only do that so often like once every 6 months or something i forget the exact time frame. Basically this made norms especially pre 30 a toxic environment and riot decided to remove all of it
