What if Tailwind applied to Zephyr and not Janna?

So the idea is that she gets Zephyr (the elemental, not the ability) at level one and allies walking towards Zephyr gain bonus Movement Speed. This could include Janna when she turns around and if Zephyr behaved similarly to Lulu's Pix, but it needn't. She also could gain the ghosted effect that Zephyr provides once you've put a point into it, which is usually around level 3, but she needn't either. Then, if she uses her W on an enemy that enemy gains Zephyr like how enemies gain Pix and allies gain bonus Movement Speed when walking towards them.

These are all buffs to Janna (buffs she doesn't need). However, they are buffs in the form of additional utility added to her kit. And as we know from Riot, additional utility makes balancing champions' numbers easier. So with these additions, Janna could be balanced more easily instead of just getting her numbers nerfed slightly every time she's too powerful.

I actually really like this idea! It's really cool and quite creative, and could fit well into her kit. The biggest issue with Janna is that it can be hard to balance her kit, without it being absolute garbage, or absolutely meta-defining.

This would add a nice new little lever in her kit that would allow Riot to adjust her in a way that wouldn't make or break her kit.

Why pick Lulu over Janna then...? That would be a terrifying outclass.

The only additional similarity would be in the behavior of Zephyr and Pix. Does Lulu grant bonus Movement Speed when walking towards a single enemy?

If you wanted to, you'd have to ask that question about the current Janna.

No, because that's Lulu's another ability - which Janna combines in one stronger than both: Slows them, makes allies run faster to them and also gives MVS to Janna when not on CD. What other do Lulu and Janna have?

Long-ranged little damage and slow X Long-ranged little damage and Knock up MVS and ATS buff/Basically a silence X Passive MVS buff for herself, Slow and MVS buff for allies Shield and AA buff X Shield and AA buff Single-target heal and AoE Knock up X AoE Heal and AoE Knock back

Nothing that Lulu would bring to the table that wasn't negated by Janna's overall utility. Janna already outclasses Lulu pretty hard after Lulu's nerfs...

That's pretty much just your personal preference. Sure, Janna is currently the no.1 Support. But that has little to do with how much utility she has. All Enchanters have similar amounts and similar kinds of utility.

Lulu has more damage than Janna on her own. She has a reveal against invisible champions. She has AoE slows. Her ult is instantaneous and pushes enemies away from her ally rather than herself. It also gives that ally an AoE slow which is great on offense Divers and against offense Divers. Her kit works better with on-hit champions rather than physical damage dealing champions. She is more aggressive. She has a targeted polymorph that can shut down champions. She has more freedom in her positioning and is punished less when out of position. She has less deaths on average and earns more gold, which might be because of her higher wave clear.

I know what you are aiming for, but let me repeat myself:

Nothing that Lulu would bring to the table that wasn't negated by Janna's overall utility.

The thing is that yes, she has those things, the problem comes when you are picking a support, so you are deciding: Do I want a little damage that get's lost in the overall damage of the game with a slow on a peeling support, or do I want a knockup? Is trading all these things for the invisibility reveal worth it? And in the end, is my ADC an on-hit champion or a crit Marksman/AD caster, which you can guess it will be in the Lethality meta? There sure are people that would take Lulu, but she'd be VERY niche pick or just taken by her dedicated mains, like 99% of players would pick Janna in the neutral (= not a specific case of hard counterpicking) situation.

I have made a few versions of a Janna rework, and this is actually one of my favorite idea. Making her passive her W passive and letting it apply to whomever Zephyr is attached to. Attached to Janna, move faster towards her, attached to initiating tank, follow them into combat, attach it to some poor enemy soul, chasing power for days.

Janna does not need buffs, and she specially doesn't need buffs to her utility.
