What kind of Champion would you use this "shield-on-hit" mechanic for?

I was originally trying to suggest this as a change for Irelia's Hiten Style, but lots of people said they didn't like it because they don't like Irelia changes. As such, I'm trying to think of ideas on what else I could put this mechanic on.

It basically works like this:

Passive: Basic attacks grant yourself a very weak, but stackable shield (up to a cap) that lasts a very short time (i.e. 1.5 seconds max).

Active: Grants some sort of attacking steroid and improves the strength of the shields for a limited duration.

Basically, it's a non-sustain version of Hiten Style that still allows "trade superiority", but doesn't let you sustain yourself in lane. If you're hit by poke and it goes through the shields, the damage is gonna stick. But if you get into an AA fight with another Champion, odds are you'll have the upper hand.

I got the idea for this one from Diablo 3. The Wizard is able to use an ability that grants him/her a damage-absorbing shield whenever he/she attacks. Good for long-term fights, not so good against burst, but it's saved my life countless times.

I imagine this would be put onto a duelist Champion, but I'd like second opinions.

Sounds kind of like Mordekaiser's passive, where he gets a shield based on how much damage his spells do.

This would be more for an auto-attack reliant Champion. Morde doesn't rely on AA.

But there has been talk of a Morde rework. If they do change things so that he wants to AA a bit more, this would work for him.

So...an ability version of Bloodthirster's passive?

It would be good for AD bruisers/carries. It's just free health rewarded by staying in the fight.

The best comparable examples are Vi and Fiora

Orient him more towards a fighter support than a tank.

Someone like Quinn seems the best use of the ability.
