Why do people use runnans on jinx?

is it because of the splash damage on the fishbones? or does it have something to do with the AS stacking from the pow pow passive?

Runnans used to not have crit, but it was always done to get triple aoe crits which was something like 550% attack damage if an enemy got hit by all three splashes.

Now that runnans gives crit, plus some damage on hit, Essence -> Runnans -> IE -> Statik/RFC is a Strong combo giving 100% crit chance, good AS, 30% CDR, and you wont go oom because you get 9% of your maximum mana back every auto.

Basically, Jinx becomes an aoe goddess late, and will shred entire teams with enough front line peel. But in yolo que its a bit too glass cannon to be reliable.

Provides lots of AS and crit, and spreads out the splash damage.

The attack speed is good and it makes your waveclear hella fast with rockets. Going to farm bot lane is a pretty big risk cause you can be seen on the map while you are there. It helps you out a lot if you can clear the wave quickly and leave the enemy vision.

Double crit aoe rockets.

splash damage on rockets actually means you're increasing damage to your primary target if they're standing too close to allies or minions.
