@Meddler: When are you guys getting around to the troubled mana mages?

darkdill··11 votes·929 views

Lux, Ziggs, Syndra, Brand, etc. All of them got kinda screwed over by the mana regen nerfs and haven't been adequately compensated or adjusted. And surely all the topics you've seen on the matter tell you they need some help.

Well? When are they going to get some bandaid fixes?

They're... pretty playable right now, except maybe poor Syndra...

Playable? Yes. Balanced state? NO.

For instance, playing as Lux vs Zed is a nightmare. You can try to farm at long range with your E, but since you're forced to get Seeker's Armguard first, you WILL run out of mana too quickly and be forced to recall too much. If you try to auto-attack farm, Zed will kill you automatically. All the while, he is able to farm and poke forever because he's an Energy user.

Meanwhile, both Lux AND Ziggs are left 100% inferior to Xerath in every way, and Xerath doesn't suffer that mana problem.

Honestly, you hit the problem right on the head.

Mage have a solution for an AP champions that harasses them early.item 3174 . Yes, it isn't the best mana regen item any more, but it will give you magic resist and mana regen. Against AD champion harass... You've got to somehow get item 3165 anditem 3157 at the same time.

There might be another solution. It was a semi troll build by Siv HD called "Swannie". The gist was you start full AD runes in Annie, taking advantage of her long range auto attacks to harass unsuspecting enemies early. You then transmission like an effortless swan into an AP build.

If done right, it could let you post pone mana regen, relying on easier auto attack last hits and auto attack harass, using early spells for utility and occasional damage. I don't know if I'd try it on anyone other than my AP Ezreal though.

I doubt that build would work for Lux or Ziggs since they only have 550 range.

anivia?

Anivia can make Grail work because she tends to get RoA and AA Staff, which give her huge capacity. Her problem is a lack of mobility in a high-mobility meta and her extremely low durability (due to her passive).

Not to say she doesn't need some help, though. She definitely doesn't have anything going for her to make her any better than other mages.

Based off of what happened with Veigar, i do not think you want those champs touched... except syndra, dont think she can get any worse but i could be wrong.

Veigar had a completely different reason for his rework. Mana consumption wasn't one of them.

Lack of a red post tells me Meddler either missed this or doesn't care. T_T
